Ideas

  • Large, multi-dimensional foil data lookup tables, i.e., use Reynolds number, pitch rate, possibly even turbulence quantities nearby to determine foil forces, instead of a single table of Cl and Cd values.
  • Dynamic mesh object to model typical generators.
  • Bluff bodies with unsteady lift and drag coefficients.
  • Reverse foil design--Build ideal coefficient database with reasonable constraints, and use BL-resolving RANS or vortex methods to find shape.
