As described in this thread Ghost is not auto starting when installed from ISO. Marc noted that he also tried the OVA and same result.
The weird thing is though, that there is a Sysvinit script in the overlay!?! And when I tested the LXC build, that worked as expected (and the Sysvinit script exists). However, I can confirm that the Sysvinit script does not exist in the ISO install!?! I have no idea how that could be (but it is...)
As it turns out though, Ghost ships with a SystemD service which can be enabled. So the workaround is pretty quick and easy:
