I have found that altering the defaults for the bootstrap styling (i.e font color, link color, etc etc) can be a bit of a pain.
I have found that getting bootstrap-sass to place a copy of the variables file into the sass folder that is in your project at time of creation makes life so much easier.
I hope that yourself and others might see the advantage to this.
