I've been reading that there are plans to drop support for IE8 in version 4 of Bootstrap. While it may be a dead browser in the commercial world, those of us who develop for the DoD are REQUIRED to include IE8!!!. It is a mandatory requirement for the DoD, and will be for probably at least another year.
The statistics that show usage of IE8 do not take the military community into account, and are therefore skewed.
I'm not saying I like IE8, but it is something that I have to account for, and you probably should think about the LARGE DoD community before dropping support.

I also heard a lot about usage of IE8 in film industry because of security reasons. I think that's the most idiotic reason around. Supporting IE8 which is already 6 years old and doesn't support most common Web techniques is only pain. It makes a lot of work with little value. And it encourages this community of administrators living in a "never touch a running system" to hold software development hostage in system from the last century. For me it is a reason to celebrate that Microsoft drooped XP support and also IE8 is dieing because it's the badest browser that is still used.
