Version 2.2.2 - bootstrap-responsive.css does not display correctly on windows phone 8 browser #6279
Comments
Eh, not sure how we can help with this at this time. We don't officially support Windows Phone 8 at this time, so without some more testing from the community, we can't help much. |
This should be reopened and made a priority with Bootstrap 3 if it's not already... |
@aeharding: you may want to post in #6342. |
Does anyone know what code introduced the issue, so we can find a work around? |
@bradbamford: might wanna check whether 2.3.0 or 3.0.0-wip happen to have fixed it. |
Well, it's not fixed in 2.3.1 and moving to 3x isn't really an option at his point. |
This is a known bug with the Windows Phone 8 and perhaps even Windows 8 devices. If you look at the following page it will help explain the issue and gives a around until and update is released. The only problem with Phone updates is when the phone carriers decide to release them. http://mattstow.com/responsive-design-in-ie10-on-windows-phone-8.html |
@cvrebert - I can confirm that 3.0 didn't fix the mobile issue on my windows phone 7 or 8. (Viewed getbootstrap.com from my phone) @robowerks - I'm not sure where the faults come from, but zurb foundation were able to get this working. So I'm puzzled why bootstrap couldn't resolve this issue or at least support them in the first place. |
I've got a download of Zurb Foundation and will have to dig around and see if I can find what they are doing. Foundation sites do show right on my Windows Phone 8 if I look at their site. I've recently upgraded js and css files from v.2.2.1 to v.2.2.2 and all the web pages appear to respond correctly based on browser size. However, when viewing through windows phone 8 browser, it did not show the layout in proper format. Instead it displays as if it was a full size browser.
I discovered that bootstrap-responsive.css v 2.2.2 did not respond well which I'm not sure where exactly the problem lies. I only reverted back to 2.2.1 bootstrap-responsive.css and this seems to solve the problem.
