merge changes into my branch
This commit splits the locale extension examples into two blocks, adds headers, and expands slightly. The calendar examples are explained with more detail without (hopefully) going overboard.

Based on discussion in the teleconference of 2020-10-08, clarify calendar examples. To do this I split the two locale examples into separate example boxes with these changes:
