Why not use a resource file strings to facilitate localization efforts? I was accompanying translations into other languages (#3 and #5), and is much more difficult to validate all files to complete the translation.

I did a fork a few months ago, and I'm doing the translation from game to Brazilian Portuguese, the structure already implementing resource string android.
I intend to do in a few days the project pull request to @watabou and officially translated version available.

@rodriformiga & @vndmtrx: I know @Arcnor has been working on attempting to localize the project as well, though in his case it's for his libGDX port that him and @watabou have been working on. Either way though, it seems like it'd be worth checking to see if efforts could be combined- https://github.com/Arcnor/pixel-dungeon-gdx
