Good night.
First, I would like to thank you for creating the game. It's really great and addictive. Its development is very good and I'm learning a lot (I am beginner with programming for Android).

As I am wanting to have more knowledge in the language, I started the translation of the game, following a few tips as described in Google's documentation.
I already have around 75% of the game translated, but as the first language that I translated was the Portuguese (I'm from Brazil), I have some problems with the creation of characters like "áéíóúçñãõ",among many others because these characters do not exist in pictures sources ("font1x.png", "font2x.png", "font3x.png" etc.).
I tried to create these characters and image files manually without success.

So, I would help. Need to know how do I create these images, or know what font was used to create the characters.

Thank you, already ...

PS: if you want to see the necessary changes to the translation, feel free. I tried to make several commits with changes made, being divided according to their packages (except the first commits, who knew very well GitHub).

I´ve tried to translate the game into spanish, but didn´t make it, I think every character has a piece of code for itself, so I don´t know... Can I help? if not, what software do you use for translating? I don´t think Spanish translation would necessarily use áéíóú so maybe I could be doing that while those characters are implemented. Some help for the dev would be nice, though...

Hi @tavocello,
Sorry for the delay in resonder your comment.
I'm finalizing the translation of the game in a few days, and really, the texts were scattered across the source code. I had a lot of work to gather all the strings into a single file (strings.xml), and since making the entire translation for Brazilian Portuguese.
If you want to help me in the translation into Spanish, I would greatly appreciate it. Can, in this case making a fork of my project, already nearing completion. You can access it through my directory (https://github.com/rodriformiga/pixel-dungeon), and then send me a pull request with your changes.
In a few days, so here is everything organized, I'll send a pull request to Watabou to put in the official game.
Procedures for the translation:

  1. Create a fork of the project (https://github.com/rodriformiga/pixel-dungeon)
  2. Copy the "pixel-dungeon/res/values/strings.xml" file to a new "values-es" directory into "pixel-dungeon/res/" folder
  3. For each string, convert to your language.
  4. Send me a pull request with your changes

PS¹: I have not received information on how to make the accented Latin characters (áçñàâ), and so the translation to Portuguese is ignoring these characters and placing them without centuação (acnaa).
PS²: You should also do a project for PD-classes in "https://github.com/rodriformiga/PD-classes"
PS³: the code is fully updated as the Commits provided by @watabou.

Hi, @watabou
Please, I would love your help to finish the translation of the game. I would love to know how you created the sources for the game, for me to do the translation of the Latin characters.
I'm practically the entire game translated into Brazilian Portuguese, and already some interested members to translate the game into other languages.
You can evaluate all development in https://github.com/rodriformiga/pixel-dungeon.

I wait eagerly for your help

Thank you

As I said earlier, these Latin characters (with accents) are not treated in the game, and for this reason I opened this thread asking for @watabou provide the font used in the game to generate the characters you need.
I did rodriformiga/PD-classes@1835853 correction, so the game ran without errors, when creating these characters in the strings.xml file. So, you can usually do translation, the characters, everything is working when available.

@rodriformiga There is a small online tool that you could use to import, modify and exports the font:

I tried to make the translation to the program you recommended, but could not open the files properly due to the image size (the width is too large!?).
But I managed to create special characters with another similar program (http://apps.pixlr.com/editor/). I could already change the files "font3x.png" and "font25x.png".
Will soon be available to commit these changes.

And very pleased to report that the translation of the game WAS COMPLETED in this commit(rodriformiga@0387eab). All texts, and status lines are ready in the XML file in the languages English (default) and Brazilian Portuguese.

So I finalize this topic, but still hoping the @watabou help me with the translation of other sources, which are more difficult to make due to their small size.

Thank you all 😆
