Consider upgrading titlebar to a more modern approach? #865
Comments
I like this idea. The toolbar at the moment is a bit pants. There's probably a bit of work to bring the actions down into the renderer, but I'll take a look |
Great, looking forward to it :) |
Hmmm...looks almost like the same discussion as in: #36 or am I wrong? |
I guess so. Feel free to close this @Thomas101. |
It is the same as #36, but electron-react-titlebar makes it look an easier task :). Hoping to look into the feasibility of using it in the current beta cycle and depending on what that looks like either close it off for 36 or close it off as added :) |
Slightly related, when you start Wavebox and have a trial you get a nice visual cue with the number of days remaining, once upgraded it disappears. Then the 'corner' especially when using round icons is a little messy too imho, it's not easy on the eye. Could that area not be utilized as a little notifications hub or similar? Forgive me if I have jumped into the 'wrong' thread but it's a similar usability issue. |
@apidevlab can you explain a bit more on what you are actually asking for. I am not completely following what is hard on the eyes in your explanation... |
hmmmm I do not see what would make that better to be honest. Since the days of reference at the top is only a single point until the time runs out. The ideal design is the way it is and then keep "other" items in the lower left items like support, knowledgebase, etc. The notifications can be accessed through the wavebox mini menu and also system menu. So I do not see at the moment what would make that better for the eyes |
Not to worry, obviously a difference in opinion, I just feel it looks a little cluttered, will have a play around and see if I can get something that works for me :) thanks for the input though. |
On the other hand there is a different issue to be able to modify interface. to be able to place bars a little how you want |
Refresh fixed it lol, thats better but I still stand by original observations 👍 |
No worries. You can read about this feature here: https://blog.wavebox.io/3-ways-to-organise-apps-in-wavebox/ |
@apidevlab I get where you're coming from - when the sidebar is configured to use the smallest size the icons down the side and along the top match in size and it just gives you a screen full of icons. That's one of the reasons, that by default we have the icons down the left slightly larger so there's at least some visual cue about priority...
If there's something that would make sense to place at the top then we can certainly look at that, but I'm not sure what that would be at the moment. It may be worth moving this discussion into another thread as it's a little off-topic... |
That's pretty much it yes. Sorry for hijacking the thread, seems like you guys now understand what I was getting at. |
hmmmm maybe have a option to use it as it is....but then have something like a "summary" area where you have: pinned, notifications etc items just like you would get on hitting Ctrl+T? But almost like a "home" page sort of for summary to catch up of what is going on? Just taking a hit at what could be... :) |
Yay, didn't even realize 'Ctrl T' was a thing but that's super useful.
Thanks for the tip.

Are you willing to consider to use something like
electron-react-titlebar
for a more modern approach to the windows chrome? At least for Windows systems? An implementation similar to Franz would make Wavebox fit more nicely in Windows (in my opinion of course):
This would make it themeable and tweakable (through CSS) too.
For comparison here's how Wavebox looks on my machine after a few CSS tweaks to the sidebar:
What do you think?
