URL: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/learn/

Browser / Version: Firefox 99.0
Operating System: Windows 10
Tested Another Browser: Yes Edge

Problem type: Design is broken
Description: Items not fully visible
Steps to Reproduce:
.NET Editor Text Is Not Highlighted When Using System-Wide High Contrast Theme:

  1. Turn on a high-contrast systemwide theme using Windows.
  2. Use Firefox to navigate to a website with a built-in .NET editor. (Example: Microsoft's learning modules)
  3. Attempt to highlight a string by double-clicking it, to highlight an entire block of text by pressing ctrl-A, or use other similar techniques to select text such as pressing shift-arrow key.

Expected result: A highlight displays to indicate which text is selected.
Actual result: No highlight is displayed to indicate which text is selected. The text is still selected, but no highlight appears to indicate this.

Upon an attempt to replicate the bug using Microsoft Edge, the text was highlighted as expected regardless of whether a high-contrast systemwide theme was applied or not.

We appreciate your report. I was able to reproduce the issue. Following your steps to reproduce, the text in the editor is not highlighted:

highcontrast reproducible

Link to reproduce: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/learn/modules/csharp-write-first/2-exercise-hello-world

Tested with:

Browser / Version: Firefox Release 99.0.1 (64-bit)/ Firefox Nightly 101.0a1 (2022-04-27) (64-bit) /Microsoft Edge Version 100.0.1185.50 (Official build) (64-bit)
Operating System: Windows 10 PRO x64

Notes:

  1. Reproducible regardless of the status of ETP.
  2. Reproducible on the latest build of Firefox Nightly.
  3. Works as expected using Edge.
  4. Reproducible on other pages with a built-in .NET editor

Moving this to NeedsDiagnosis for further investigations.
