commit 0dde10b upstream. There is no need for the extra pair of parentheses, remove it. This fixes the following warning when building with clang: fs/btrfs/tree-log.c:3694:10: warning: equality comparison with extraneous parentheses [-Wparentheses-equality] if ((i == (nr - 1))) ~~^~~~~~~~~~~ Also remove the unnecessary parentheses around the substraction. Section name should be placed in String table. Currently, we used static version for string table index to update subsequent section names. Due to this string table index keeps on increasing during every new dump(subsystem restart) request. This ultimately will result in buffer overflow, leading to Redzone overwritten. Hence, as a fix, now reset, this string table index once dump capture is complete. Change-Id: Ibc2446ae4011db5291044eacdc1a1119597d862a Signed-off-by: Jitendra Sharma <shajit@codeaurora.org>

It maybe smaller than 'vc_screenbuf'. When TIOCLINUX, use the new_row_size to calc the offset, it maybe larger than the vga_vram_size in vgacon driver, then bad access. Also, if set an larger screenbuf firstly, then set an more larger screenbuf, when copy old_origin to new_origin, a bad access may happen. commit 6a6ca78 upstream. We have a Dell AIO, there is neither internal speaker nor internal mic, only a multi-function audio jack on it. Users reported that after freshly installing the OS and plug a headset to the audio jack, the headset can't output sound. I reproduced this bug, at that moment, the Input Source is as below: Simple mixer control 'Input Source',0 Capabilities: cenum Items: 'Headphone Mic' 'Headset Mic' Item0: 'Headphone Mic' That is because the patch_realtek will set this audio jack as mic_in mode if Input Source's value is hp_mic. If it is not fresh installing, this issue will not happen since the systemd will run alsactl restore -f /var/lib/alsa/asound.state, this will set the 'Input Source' according to history value. If there is internal speaker or internal mic, this issue will not happen since there is valid sink/source in the pulseaudio, the PA will set the 'Input Source' according to active_port. To fix this issue, change the parser function to let the hs_mic be stored ahead of hp_mic. Probably, earlier versions of the AMD manual documented it as reserved in PDPEs as well, and that behavior made it into KVM as well as kvm-unit-tests; fix it. commit 6bf9cd2 upstream. Under somewhat convoluted conditions, it is possible to attempt to release an extent_buffer that is under io, which triggers a BUG_ON in btrfs_release_extent_buffer_pages. This relies on a few different factors. First, extent_buffer reads done as readahead for searching use WAIT_NONE, so they free the local extent buffer reference while the io is outstanding. However, they should still be protected by TREE_REF. However, if the system is doing signficant reclaim, and simultaneously heavily accessing the extent_buffers, it is possible for releasepage to race with two concurrent readahead attempts in a way that leaves TREE_REF unset when the readahead extent buffer is released. Essentially, if two tasks race to allocate a new extent_buffer, but the winner who attempts the first io is rebuffed by a page being locked (likely by the reclaim itself) then the loser will still go ahead with issuing the readahead. The loser's call to find_extent_buffer must also race with the reclaim task reading the extent_buffer's refcount as 1 in a way that allows the reclaim to re-clear the TREE_REF checked by find_extent_buffer. The following represents an example execution demonstrating the race: CPU0 CPU1 CPU2 reada_for_search reada_for_search readahead_tree_block readahead_tree_block find_create_tree_block find_create_tree_block alloc_extent_buffer alloc_extent_buffer find_extent_buffer // not found allocates eb lock pages associate pages to eb insert eb into radix tree set TREE_REF, refs == 2 unlock pages read_extent_buffer_pages // WAIT_NONE not uptodate (brand new eb) lock_page if !trylock_page goto unlock_exit // not an error free_extent_buffer release_extent_buffer atomic_dec_and_test refs to 1 find_extent_buffer // found try_release_extent_buffer take refs_lock reads refs == 1; no io atomic_inc_not_zero refs to 2 mark_buffer_accessed check_buffer_tree_ref // not STALE, won't take refs_lock refs == 2; TREE_REF set // no action read_extent_buffer_pages // WAIT_NONE clear TREE_REF release_extent_buffer atomic_dec_and_test refs to 1 unlock_page still not uptodate (CPU1 read failed on trylock_page) locks pages set io_pages > 0 submit io return free_extent_buffer release_extent_buffer dec refs to 0 delete from radix tree btrfs_release_extent_buffer_pages BUG_ON(io_pages > 0)!!! We observe this at a very low rate in production and were also able to reproduce it in a test environment by introducing some spurious delays and by introducing probabilistic trylock_page failures. To fix it, we apply check_tree_ref at a point where it could not possibly be unset by a competing task: after io_pages has been incremented. All the codepaths that clear TREE_REF check for io, so they would not be able to clear it after this point until the io is done. commit 00fdec9 upstream. Trap handler for syscall tracing reads EFA (Exception Fault Address), in case strace wants PC of trap instruction (EFA is not part of pt_regs as of current code). However this EFA read is racy as it happens after dropping to pure kernel mode (re-enabling interrupts). A taken interrupt could context-switch, trigger a different task's trap, clobbering EFA for this execution context. Fix this by reading EFA early, before re-enabling interrupts. A slight side benefit is de-duplication of FAKE_RET_FROM_EXCPN in trap handler. The trap handler is common to both ARCompact and ARCv2 builds too. This just came out of code rework/review and no real problem was reported but is clearly a potential problem specially for strace. env_start|end in mm_struct mmap_sem is on the hot path of kernel, and it very contended, but it is abused too. It is used to protect arg_start|end and evn_start|end when reading /proc/$PID/cmdline and /proc/$PID/environ, but it doesn't make sense since those proc files just expect to read 4 values atomically and not related to VM, they could be set to arbitrary values by C/R. And, the mmap_sem contention may cause unexpected issue like below: INFO: task ps:14018 blocked for more than 120 seconds. Tainted: G E 4.9.79-009.ali3000.alios7.x86_64 whatawurst#1 "echo 0 > /proc/sys/kernel/hung_task_timeout_secs" disables this message. ps D 0 14018 1 0x00000004 Call Trace: schedule+0x36/0x80 rwsem_down_read_failed+0xf0/0x150 call_rwsem_down_read_failed+0x18/0x30 down_read+0x20/0x40 proc_pid_cmdline_read+0xd9/0x4e0 __vfs_read+0x37/0x150 vfs_read+0x96/0x130 SyS_read+0x55/0xc0 entry_SYSCALL_64_fastpath+0x1a/0xc5 Both Alexey Dobriyan and Michal Hocko suggested to use dedicated lock for them to mitigate the abuse of mmap_sem. So, introduce a new spinlock in mm_struct to protect the concurrent access to arg_start|end, env_start|end and others, as well as replace write map_sem to read to protect the race condition between prctl and sys_brk which might break check_data_rlimit(), and makes prctl more friendly to other VM operations. This patch just eliminates the abuse of mmap_sem, but it can't resolve the above hung task warning completely since the later access_remote_vm() call needs acquire mmap_sem. The mmap_sem scalability issue will be solved in the future. commit b31cb5a6eb7a48b0a7bfdf06832b1fd5088d8c79 upstream. When disabling quotas we are deleting the quota root from the list fs_info->dirty_cowonly_roots without taking the lock that protects it, which is struct btrfs_fs_info::trans_lock. This unsynchronized list manipulation may cause chaos if there's another concurrent manipulation of this list, such as when adding a root to it with ctree.c:add_root_to_dirty_list(). This can result in all sorts of weird failures caused by a race, such as the following crash: [337571.278245] general protection fault, probably for non-canonical address 0xdead000000000108: 0000 [whatawurst#1] PREEMPT SMP PTI [337571.278933] CPU: 1 PID: 115447 Comm: btrfs Tainted: G W 6.4.0-rc6-btrfs-next-134+ whatawurst#1 [337571.279153] Hardware name: QEMU Standard PC (i440FX + PIIX, 1996), BIOS rel-1.14.0-0-g155821a1990b-prebuilt.qemu.org 04/01/2014 [337571.279572] RIP: 0010:commit_cowonly_roots+0x11f/0x250 [btrfs] [337571.279928] Code: 85 38 06 00 (...) Bing-Jhong Billy Jheng reported null-ptr-deref in unix_stream_sendpage() with detailed analysis and a nice repro. unix_stream_sendpage() tries to add data to the last skb in the peer's recv queue without locking the queue. If the peer's FD is passed to another socket and the socket's FD is passed to the peer, there is a loop between them. If we close both sockets without receiving FD, the sockets will be cleaned up by garbage collection. The garbage collection iterates such sockets and unlinks skb with FD from the socket's receive queue under the queue's lock. So, there is a race where unix_stream_sendpage() could access an skb locklessly that is being released by garbage collection, resulting in use-after-free. To avoid the issue, unix_stream_sendpage() must lock the peer's recv queue. Note the issue does not exist in 6.5+ thanks to the recent sendpage() refactoring. This patch is originally written by Linus Torvalds. [1] syz-executor creates an AF_NETROM socket and calls connect(), which is blocked at that time. Then, sk->sk_state is TCP_SYN_SENT and sock->state is SS_CONNECTING. [pid 5059] socket(AF_NETROM, SOCK_SEQPACKET, 0) = 4 [pid 5059] connect(4, {sa_family=AF_NETROM, sa_data="..." <unfinished ...> Another thread calls connect() concurrently, which finally fails with -EINVAL. However, the problem here is the socket state is reset even while the first connect() is blocked. [pid 5060] connect(4, NULL, 0 <unfinished ...> [pid 5060] <... connect resumed>) = -1 EINVAL (Invalid argument) As sk->state is TCP_CLOSE and sock->state is SS_UNCONNECTED, the following listen() succeeds. Then, the first connect() looks up itself as a listener and puts skb into the queue with skb->sk itself. As a result, the next accept() gets another FD of itself as 3, and the first connect() finishes. [pid 5060] listen(4, 0 <unfinished ...> [pid 5060] <... listen resumed>) = 0 [pid 5060] accept(4, NULL, NULL <unfinished ...> [pid 5060] <... accept resumed>) = 3 [pid 5059] <... connect resumed>) = 0 Then, accept4() is called but blocked, which causes the general protection fault later. [pid 5059] accept4(4, NULL, 0x20000400, SOCK_NONBLOCK <unfinished ...> After that, another self-accept occurs by accept() and writev(). [pid 5060] accept(4, NULL, NULL <unfinished ...> [pid 5061] writev(3, [{iov_base=...}] <unfinished ...> [pid 5061] <... writev resumed>) = 99 [pid 5060] <... accept resumed>) = 6 Finally, the leader thread close()s all FDs. Since the three FDs reference the same socket, nr_release() does the cleanup for it three times, and the remaining accept4() causes the following fault. [pid 5058] close(3) = 0 [pid 5058] close(4) = 0 [pid 5058] close(5) = -1 EBADF (Bad file descriptor) [pid 5058] close(6) = 0 [pid 5058] <... exit_group resumed>) = ? [ 83.456055][ T5059] general protection fault, probably for non-canonical address 0xdffffc0000000003: 0000 [whatawurst#1] PREEMPT SMP KASAN To avoid the issue, we need to return an error for connect() if another connect() is in progress, as done in __inet_stream_connect(). … delayed items commit e110f8911ddb93e6f55da14ccbbe705397b30d0b upstream. When running delayed items we are holding a delayed node's mutex and then we will attempt to modify a subvolume btree to insert/update/delete the delayed items. However if have an error during the insertions for example, btrfs_insert_delayed_items() may return with a path that has locked extent buffers (a leaf at the very least), and then we attempt to release the delayed node at __btrfs_run_delayed_items(), which requires taking the delayed node's mutex, causing an ABBA type of deadlock. This was reported by syzbot and the lockdep splat is the following: WARNING: possible circular locking dependency detected 6.5.0-rc7-syzkaller-00024-g93f5de5f648d #0 Not tainted ------------------------------------------------------ syz-executor.2/13257 is trying to acquire lock: ffff88801835c0c0 (&delayed_node->mutex){+.+.}-{3:3}, at: __btrfs_release_delayed_node+0x9a/0xaa0 fs/btrfs/delayed-inode.c:256 but task is already holding lock: ffff88802a5ab8e8 (btrfs-tree-00){++++}-{3:3}, at: __btrfs_tree_lock+0x3c/0x2a0 fs/btrfs/locking.c:198 which lock already depends on the new lock. the existing dependency chain (in reverse order) is: -> whatawurst#1 (btrfs-tree-00){++++}-{3:3}: __lock_release kernel/locking/lockdep.c:5475 [inline] lock_release+0x36f/0x9d0 kernel/locking/lockdep.c:5781 up_write+0x79/0x580 kernel/locking/rwsem.c:1625 btrfs_tree_unlock_rw fs/btrfs/locking.h:189 [inline] btrfs_unlock_up_safe+0x179/0x3b0 fs/btrfs/locking.c:239 search_leaf fs/btrfs/ctree.c:1986 [inline] btrfs_search_slot+0x2511/0x2f80 fs/btrfs/ctree.c:2230 btrfs_insert_empty_items+0x9c/0x180 fs/btrfs/ctree.c:4376 btrfs_insert_delayed_item fs/btrfs/delayed-inode.c:746 [inline] btrfs_insert_delayed_items fs/btrfs/delayed-inode.c:824 [inline] __btrfs_commit_inode_delayed_items+0xd24/0x2410 fs/btrfs/delayed-inode.c:1111 __btrfs_run_delayed_items+0x1db/0x430 fs/btrfs/delayed-inode.c:1153 flush_space+0x269/0xe70 fs/btrfs/space-info.c:723 btrfs_async_reclaim_metadata_space+0x106/0x350 fs/btrfs/space-info.c:1078 process_one_work+0x92c/0x12c0 kernel/workqueue.c:2600 worker_thread+0xa63/0x1210 kernel/workqueue.c:2751 kthread+0x2b8/0x350 kernel/kthread.c:389 ret_from_fork+0x2e/0x60 arch/x86/kernel/process.c:145 ret_from_fork_asm+0x11/0x20 arch/x86/entry/entry_64.S:304 -> #0 (&delayed_node->mutex){+.+.}-{3:3}: check_prev_add kernel/locking/lockdep.c:3142 [inline] check_prevs_add kernel/locking/lockdep.c:3261 [inline] validate_chain kernel/locking/lockdep.c:3876 [inline] __lock_acquire+0x39ff/0x7f70 kernel/locking/lockdep.c:5144 lock_acquire+0x1e3/0x520 kernel/locking/lockdep.c:5761 __mutex_lock_common+0x1d8/0x2530 kernel/locking/mutex.c:603 __mutex_lock kernel/locking/mutex.c:747 [inline] mutex_lock_nested+0x1b/0x20 kernel/locking/mutex.c:799 __btrfs_release_delayed_node+0x9a/0xaa0 fs/btrfs/delayed-inode.c:256 btrfs_release_delayed_node fs/btrfs/delayed-inode.c:281 [inline] __btrfs_run_delayed_items+0x2b5/0x430 fs/btrfs/delayed-inode.c:1156 btrfs_commit_transaction+0x859/0x2ff0 fs/btrfs/transaction.c:2276 btrfs_sync_file+0xf56/0x1330 fs/btrfs/file.c:1988 vfs_fsync_range fs/sync.c:188 [inline] vfs_fsync fs/sync.c:202 [inline] do_fsync fs/sync.c:212 [inline] __do_sys_fsync fs/sync.c:220 [inline] __se_sys_fsync fs/sync.c:218 [inline] __x64_sys_fsync+0x196/0x1e0 fs/sync.c:218 do_syscall_x64 arch/x86/entry/common.c:50 [inline] do_syscall_64+0x41/0xc0 arch/x86/entry/common.c:80 entry_SYSCALL_64_after_hwframe+0x63/0xcd other info that might help us debug this: Possible unsafe locking scenario: CPU0 CPU1 ---- ---- lock(btrfs-tree-00); When we try to transmit an skb with md_dst attached through wireguard we hit a null pointer dereference in wg_xmit() due to the use of dst_mtu() which calls into dst_blackhole_mtu() which in turn tries to dereference dst->dev. Since wireguard doesn't use md_dsts we should use skb_valid_dst(), which checks for DST_METADATA flag, and if it's set, then falls back to wireguard's device mtu. That gives us the best chance of transmitting the packet; otherwise if the blackhole netdev is used we'd get ETH_MIN_MTU. commit 6c2f421174273de8f83cde4286d1c076d43a2d35 upstream. Several core drivers and buses expect that driver_override is a dynamically allocated memory thus later they can kfree() it. However such assumption is not documented, there were in the past and there are already users setting it to a string literal. This leads to kfree() of static memory during device release (e.g. in error paths or during unbind): kernel BUG at ../mm/slub.c:3960! Internal error: Oops - BUG: 0 [whatawurst#1] PREEMPT SMP ARM ... … UAF commit 226fae124b2dac217ea5436060d623ff3385bc34 upstream. After a call to console_unlock() in vcs_read() the vc_data struct can be freed by vc_deallocate(). Because of that, the struct vc_data pointer load must be done at the top of while loop in vcs_read() to avoid a UAF when vcs_size() is called. Syzkaller reported a UAF in vcs_size(). [ Upstream commit d5dba32b8f6cb39be708b726044ba30dbc088b30 ] As &card->cli_queue_lock is acquired under softirq context along the following call chain from solos_bh(), other acquisition of the same lock inside process context should disable at least bh to avoid double lock. <deadlock whatawurst#1> console_show() --> spin_lock(&card->cli_queue_lock) <interrupt> --> solos_bh() --> spin_lock(&card->cli_queue_lock) This flaw was found by an experimental static analysis tool I am developing for irq-related deadlock. To prevent the potential deadlock, the patch uses spin_lock_bh() on the card->cli_queue_lock under process context code consistently to prevent the possible deadlock scenario. [ Upstream commit 6b9dbedbe3499fef862c4dff5217cf91f34e43b3 ] pty_write() invokes kmalloc() which may invoke a normal printk() to print failure message. This can cause a deadlock in the scenario reported by syz-bot below: CPU0 CPU1 CPU2 ---- ---- ---- lock(console_owner); lock(&port_lock_key); lock(&port->lock); lock(&port_lock_key); lock(&port->lock); lock(console_owner); As commit dbdda84 ("printk: Add console owner and waiter logic to load balance console writes") said, such deadlock can be prevented by using printk_deferred() in kmalloc() (which is invoked in the section guarded by the port->lock). But there are too many printk() on the kmalloc() path, and kmalloc() can be called from anywhere, so changing printk() to printk_deferred() is too complicated and inelegant. Therefore, this patch chooses to specify __GFP_NOWARN to kmalloc(), so that printk() will not be called, and this deadlock problem can be avoided. Syzbot reported the following lockdep error: ====================================================== WARNING: possible circular locking dependency detected 5.4.143-00237-g08ccc19a-dirty whatawurst#10 Not tainted ------------------------------------------------------ syz-executor.4/29420 is trying to acquire lock: ffffffff8aedb2a0 (console_owner){....}-{0:0}, at: console_trylock_spinning kernel/printk/printk.c:1752 [inline] ffffffff8aedb2a0 (console_owner){....}-{0:0}, at: vprintk_emit+0x2ca/0x470 kernel/printk/printk.c:2023 but task is already holding lock: ffff8880119c9158 (&port->lock){-.-.}-{2:2}, at: pty_write+0xf4/0x1f0 drivers/tty/pty.c:120 which lock already depends on the new lock. the existing dependency chain (in reverse order) is: -> whatawurst#2 (&port->lock){-.-.}-{2:2}: __raw_spin_lock_irqsave include/linux/spinlock_api_smp.h:110 [inline] _raw_spin_lock_irqsave+0x35/0x50 kernel/locking/spinlock.c:159 tty_port_tty_get drivers/tty/tty_port.c:288 [inline] <-- lock(&port->lock); tty_port_default_wakeup+0x1d/0xb0 drivers/tty/tty_port.c:47 serial8250_tx_chars+0x530/0xa80 drivers/tty/serial/8250/8250_port.c:1767 serial8250_handle_irq.part.0+0x31f/0x3d0 drivers/tty/serial/8250/8250_port.c:1854 serial8250_handle_irq drivers/tty/serial/8250/8250_port.c:1827 [inline] <-- lock(&port_lock_key); serial8250_default_handle_irq+0xb2/0x220 drivers/tty/serial/8250/8250_port.c:1870 serial8250_interrupt+0xfd/0x200 drivers/tty/serial/8250/8250_core.c:126 __handle_irq_event_percpu+0x109/0xa50 kernel/irq/handle.c:156 [...] -> whatawurst#1 (&port_lock_key){-.-.}-{2:2}: __raw_spin_lock_irqsave include/linux/spinlock_api_smp.h:110 [inline] _raw_spin_lock_irqsave+0x35/0x50 kernel/locking/spinlock.c:159 serial8250_console_write+0x184/0xa40 drivers/tty/serial/8250/8250_port.c:3198 <-- lock(&port_lock_key); call_console_drivers kernel/printk/printk.c:1819 [inline] console_unlock+0x8cb/0xd00 kernel/printk/printk.c:2504 vprintk_emit+0x1b5/0x470 kernel/printk/printk.c:2024 <-- lock(console_owner); vprintk_func+0x8d/0x250 kernel/printk/printk_safe.c:394 printk+0xba/0xed kernel/printk/printk.c:2084 register_console+0x8b3/0xc10 kernel/printk/printk.c:2829 univ8250_console_init+0x3a/0x46 drivers/tty/serial/8250/8250_core.c:681 console_init+0x49d/0x6d3 kernel/printk/printk.c:2915 start_kernel+0x5e9/0x879 init/main.c:713 secondary_startup_64+0xa4/0xb0 arch/x86/kernel/head_64.S:241 -> #0 (console_owner){....}-{0:0}: [...] lock_acquire+0x127/0x340 kernel/locking/lockdep.c:4734 console_trylock_spinning kernel/printk/printk.c:1773 [inline] <-- lock(console_owner); vprintk_emit+0x307/0x470 kernel/printk/printk.c:2023 vprintk_func+0x8d/0x250 kernel/printk/printk_safe.c:394 printk+0xba/0xed kernel/printk/printk.c:2084 fail_dump lib/fault-inject.c:45 [inline] should_fail+0x67b/0x7c0 lib/fault-inject.c:144 __should_failslab+0x152/0x1c0 mm/failslab.c:33 should_failslab+0x5/0x10 mm/slab_common.c:1224 slab_pre_alloc_hook mm/slab.h:468 [inline] slab_alloc_node mm/slub.c:2723 [inline] slab_alloc mm/slub.c:2807 [inline] __kmalloc+0x72/0x300 mm/slub.c:3871 kmalloc include/linux/slab.h:582 [inline] tty_buffer_alloc+0x23f/0x2a0 drivers/tty/tty_buffer.c:175 __tty_buffer_request_room+0x156/0x2a0 drivers/tty/tty_buffer.c:273 tty_insert_flip_string_fixed_flag+0x93/0x250 drivers/tty/tty_buffer.c:318 tty_insert_flip_string include/linux/tty_flip.h:37 [inline] pty_write+0x126/0x1f0 drivers/tty/pty.c:122 <-- lock(&port->lock); n_tty_write+0xa7a/0xfc0 drivers/tty/n_tty.c:2356 do_tty_write drivers/tty/tty_io.c:961 [inline] tty_write+0x512/0x930 drivers/tty/tty_io.c:1045 __vfs_write+0x76/0x100 fs/read_write.c:494 [...] other info that might help us debug this: Chain exists of: console_owner --> &port_lock_key --> &port->lock Link: https://lkml.kernel.org/r/20220511061951.1114-2-zhengqi.arch@bytedance.com Link: https://lkml.kernel.org/r/20220510113809.80626-2-zhengqi.arch@bytedance.com Fixes: b6da31b ("tty: Fix data race in tty_insert_flip_string_fixed_flag") Change-Id: I911074eddfab961a40cbdcbc2b4b0a4b04a70165 Signed-off-by: Qi Zheng <zhengqi.arch@bytedance.com> Acked-by: Jiri Slaby <jirislaby@kernel.org> Acked-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org> Cc: Akinobu Mita <akinobu.mita@gmail.com> Cc: Vlastimil Babka <vbabka@suse.cz> Cc: Steven Rostedt (Google) <rostedt@goodmis.org> Signed-off-by: Andrew Morton <akpm@linux-foundation.org> Signed-off-by: Sasha Levin <sashal@kernel.org>

[ Upstream commit dad555c816a50c6a6a8a86be1f9177673918c647 ] syzbot was able to trick llc_ui_sendmsg(), allocating an skb with no headroom, but subsequently trying to push 14 bytes of Ethernet header [1] Like some others, llc_ui_sendmsg() releases the socket lock before calling sock_alloc_send_skb(). Then it acquires it again, but does not redo all the sanity checks that were performed. This fix: - Uses LL_RESERVED_SPACE() to reserve space. - Check all conditions again after socket lock is held again. - Do not account Ethernet header for mtu limitation. [ Upstream commit 4d322dce82a1d44f8c83f0f54f95dd1b8dcf46c9 ] syzbot reported a lockdep splat [1]. Blamed commit hinted about the possible lockdep violation, and code used unix_state_lock_nested() in an attempt to silence lockdep. It is not sufficient, because unix_state_lock_nested() is already used from unix_state_double_lock(). We need to use a separate subclass. NOTE: This is a partial backport since we only need the refcnt between memcg and stock to fix the problem stated below, and in this way multiple versions use the same code and align with each other. It is found that in case of stock->nr_pages == 0, the memcg on stock->cached could be freed due to its refcnt decreased to 0, which made stock->cached become a dangling pointer. It could cause a UAF problem in drain_all_stock() in the following concurrent scenario. Note that drain_all_stock() doesn't disable irq but only preemption. CPU1 CPU2 ============================================================================== stock->cached = memcgA (freed) drain_all_stock(memcgB) rcu_read_lock() memcg = CPU1's stock->cached (memcgA) (interrupted) refill_stock(memcgC) drain_stock(memcgA) stock->cached = memcgC stock->nr_pages += xxx (> 0) stock->nr_pages > 0 mem_cgroup_is_descendant(memcgA, memcgB) [UAF] rcu_read_unlock() This problem is, unintentionally, fixed at 5.9, where commit 1a3e1f4 ("mm: memcontrol: decouple reference counting from page accounting") adds memcg refcnt for stock. Therefore affected LTS versions include 4.19 and 5.4. For 4.19, memcg's css offline process doesn't call drain_all_stock(). so it's easier for the released memcg to be left on the stock. For 5.4, although mem_cgroup_css_offline() does call drain_all_stock(), but the flushing could be skipped when stock->nr_pages happens to be 0, and besides the async draining could be delayed and take place after the UAF problem has happened. Fix this problem by adding (and decreasing) memcg's refcnt when memcg is put onto (and removed from) stock, just like how commit 1a3e1f4 ("mm: memcontrol: decouple reference counting from page accounting") does. After all, "being on the stock" is a kind of reference with regards to memcg. As such, it's guaranteed that a css on stock would not be freed. It's good to mention that refill_stock() is executed in an irq-disabled context, so the drain_stock() patched with css_put() would not actually free memcgA until the end of refill_stock(), since css_put() is an RCU free and it's still in grace period. For CPU2, the access to CPU1's stock->cached is protected by rcu_read_lock(), so in this case it gets either NULL from stock->cached or a memcgA that is still good. [ Upstream commit 65e8fbde64520001abf1c8d0e573561b4746ef38 ] There is this reported crash when experimenting with the lvm2 testsuite. The list corruption is caused by the fact that the postsuspend and resume methods were not paired correctly; there were two consecutive calls to the origin_postsuspend function. The second call attempts to remove the "hash_list" entry from a list, while it was already removed by the first call. Fix __dm_internal_resume so that it calls the preresume and resume methods of the table's targets. If a preresume method of some target fails, we are in a tricky situation. We can't return an error because dm_internal_resume isn't supposed to return errors. We can't return success, because then the "resume" and "postsuspend" methods would not be paired correctly. So, we set the DMF_SUSPENDED flag and we fake normal suspend - it may confuse userspace tools, but it won't cause a kernel crash. ------------[ cut here ]------------ kernel BUG at lib/list_debug.c:56! invalid opcode: 0000 [whatawurst#1] PREEMPT SMP CPU: 1 PID: 8343 Comm: dmsetup Not tainted 6.8.0-rc6 whatawurst#4 Hardware name: QEMU Standard PC (i440FX + PIIX, 1996), BIOS 1.14.0-2 04/01/2014 RIP: 0010:__list_del_entry_valid_or_report+0x77/0xc0 <snip> RSP: 0018:ffff8881b831bcc0 EFLAGS: 00010282 RAX: 000000000000004e RBX: ffff888143b6eb80 RCX: 0000000000000000 RDX: 0000000000000001 RSI: ffffffff819053d0 RDI: 00000000ffffffff RBP: ffff8881b83a3400 R08: 00000000fffeffff R09: 0000000000000058 R10: 0000000000000000 R11: ffffffff81a24080 R12: 0000000000000001 R13: ffff88814538e000 R14: ffff888143bc6dc0 R15: ffffffffa02e4bb0 FS: 00000000f7c0f780(0000) GS:ffff8893f0a40000(0000) knlGS:0000000000000000 CS: 0010 DS: 002b ES: 002b CR0: 0000000080050033 CR2: 0000000057fb5000 CR3: 0000000143474000 CR4: 00000000000006b0 Call Trace: <TASK> ? die+0x2d/0x80 ? do_trap+0xeb/0xf0 ? __list_del_entry_valid_or_report+0x77/0xc0 ? do_error_trap+0x60/0x80 ? __list_del_entry_valid_or_report+0x77/0xc0 ? exc_invalid_op+0x49/0x60 ? __list_del_entry_valid_or_report+0x77/0xc0 ? asm_exc_invalid_op+0x16/0x20 ? table_deps+0x1b0/0x1b0 [dm_mod] ? __list_del_entry_valid_or_report+0x77/0xc0 origin_postsuspend+0x1a/0x50 [dm_snapshot] dm_table_postsuspend_targets+0x34/0x50 [dm_mod] dm_suspend+0xd8/0xf0 [dm_mod] dev_suspend+0x1f2/0x2f0 [dm_mod] ? table_deps+0x1b0/0x1b0 [dm_mod] ctl_ioctl+0x300/0x5f0 [dm_mod] dm_compat_ctl_ioctl+0x7/0x10 [dm_mod] __x64_compat_sys_ioctl+0x104/0x170 do_syscall_64+0x184/0x1b0 entry_SYSCALL_64_after_hwframe+0x46/0x4e RIP: 0033:0xf7e6aead <snip> ---[ end trace 0000000000000000 ]--- Fixes: ffcc393 ("dm: enhance internal suspend and resume interface") Signed-off-by: Mikulas Patocka <mpatocka@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: Mike Snitzer <snitzer@kernel.org> Signed-off-by: Sasha Levin <sashal@kernel.org> Signed-off-by: Ulrich Hecht <uli@kernel.org>

[ Upstream commit d27e2da94a42655861ca4baea30c8cd65546f25d ] Fix race condition leading to system crash during EEH error handling During EEH error recovery, the bnx2x driver's transmit timeout logic could cause a race condition when handling reset tasks. The bnx2x_tx_timeout() schedules reset tasks via bnx2x_sp_rtnl_task(), which ultimately leads to bnx2x_nic_unload(). In bnx2x_nic_unload() SGEs are freed using bnx2x_free_rx_sge_range(). However, this could overlap with the EEH driver's attempt to reset the device using bnx2x_io_slot_reset(), which also tries to free SGEs. This race condition can result in system crashes due to accessing freed memory locations in bnx2x_free_rx_sge() 799 static inline void bnx2x_free_rx_sge(struct bnx2x *bp, 800 struct bnx2x_fastpath *fp, u16 index) 801 { 802 struct sw_rx_page *sw_buf = &fp->rx_page_ring[index]; 803 struct page *page = sw_buf->page; .... where sw_buf was set to NULL after the call to dma_unmap_page() by the preceding thread. This reverts commit 2035c770bfdbcc82bd52e05871a7c82db9529e0f. This patch lost a unlock loop_ctl_mutex in loop_get_status(...), which caused syzbot to report a UAF issue. The upstream patch does not have this issue. Therefore, we revert this patch and directly apply the upstream patch later on.
