Welcome to the geoBoundaries wiki! Here, we track any decisions we've made, and the basis on which we've made them, when it comes to boundaries that we have multiple possible sources for.

Some general notes about limitations of the raw country files (note our aggregate products use the assumptions stated on their respective pages to overcome these limitations):

1. We attempt for each country in our database to be represented as they would represent themselves. So, when aggregating countries, overlaps can occur.
2. We do not enforce hierarchical continuity in the raw source files.
