Need to ensure that users who upgrade from the 1.0 engine to the 2.0 engine don't lose their SEO goodness on products pages...need to ensure old links work and redirect seamlessly with the new.

Need to have rewrite rules map 302 Redirects for all major pages, post types, taxonomies, etc.

Pages

  • Product Page
  • Shopping Cart
  • User Account

Post Types

  • Products

Taxonomies

  • Product Categories
  • Product Tags

Noting here - single products don't seem to have rewrites flushed for them when migrating from TEv1 to V2. Need to make sure we make a way for this to stick, as 6218981 doesn't seem to totally do the trick.

FWIW - I've tested both with and without Hierarchical URLs (for categories) migrating from TEv1 to TEv2 - and redirect_canonical seems to be doing a great job with it so far. 301 Redirects every time.

This is going to be an area that will be very important to communicate to people about.

Product tags are redirected.

Note: tested tags with tagged base filtered, and without, and it worked fine in both.

Just confirming, for posterity, that all created pages are not redirected.

This sort of ties into #1920 and #1921. As part of those tickets, we need to be sure to check if old 1.0 pages exist, and advise removing/replacing them with new ones.
