Hi,

would it be possible to add this plugin to the x42-plugins repository? This way the AVL drums would quickly be in the Debian package -- or do you think they should be separate?

Cheers,

Bastian

It's intentionally separate mainly due to to the size of the soundfont. I don't want x42-plugins to gain 45MB of weight.

As for debian, there are two more problems. Plugins are supposed to be self-contained, so the soundfont is part of the plugin (/usr/lib/lv2/). For it to be packaged in Debian it would need to be in a binary independent shared folder (/usr/share/), I gave up to convince the FTP masters. I also don't want to encumber x42-plugins with this issue. Last but not least, the licensing of the soundfont is unusual for debian "CC-BY-SA with exception".

The sampling exception makes perfect sense. Music created with the kit can be freely licensed, and
only derived sample-libs inherit the license.

Like gcc is GPL'ed, but binaries that are compiled using gcc don't inherit gcc's license.

IIRC, the problem here is that "produced music and other non-sample-library works" is ill defined.

Anyway, something for debian-legal.
