Fixes zulip#10199. The issue was observed on Chrome v68 while it was not reproduced on Chrome v64.

The issue was reproduced on Chrome v68 by @priyankp10.
I was not able to reproduce it on Chrome v64.
Priyank was going AFK soon after discovering the solution, I've made a commit on his behalf with him as the author.
