On the pivot don't forget to enable ip forwarding

$ sudo sysctl net.ipv4.conf.default.forwarding=1

Or maybe enabling NAT

$ sudo iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -s 10.0.0.1 -o eth1 -j MASQUERADE

I'm not sure VPN pivot does it for you.
