CV Control Inputs
Each module has configurable inputs. To configure module inputs go to module main screen and select Inputs by pressing Inputs button:
Each individual input can be assigned:
- Value
- Physical Input (knob or CV jack)
- Virtual Input (control from other internal module)
Each input can have from 1 to 4 parameters. The most typical input will consist of 3 inputs:
- Level
- Attenuator
- CV
The input value is calculated from formula:
Input Value = Level + Attenuator * CV
In the screenshots above we have LFO. To control LFO rate with knob: Select Frequency Coarse -> LVL and select: LVL 1
Now the LFO rate can be controlled with knob. To control LFO rate with external CV please select CV and select input from CVX 1.
Now by patching external LFO to CV input 1 we can control rate of LFO.
In case we want to have one internal module modulate another we can use virtual CV inputs. Virtual Input is just an output of another module that is not directed to Audio Output but can be used as internal modulation signal.
Usually modules have multiple CV outputs and for example currently LFO can output following CV controls:
- LFO/LFO - LFO output as CV control
- LFO/RST - Phase Reset Trigger as CV output
Those outputs can be connected to other modules (or to the same module) to modulate parameters of the modules. For example ENV/ENV - which is output of AHDSR Envelope can be connected to VCA Modulatation.
Let's add VCO and LFO. Let's set VCO output buffer to VOUT1 and LFO output buffer to VOUT2 (see Inputs and Outputs
Now let set Coarse Frequency of LFO to LVL 8 knob
By turning Level 8 Knob we can see that VOUT 2 changes from low rate LFO to audible frequency
Now let's modulate VCO AM (Amplitude Modulation) with LFO:
AM Parameters:
LVL - LVL 1
ATT - ATT 1
CV - LFO/LFO
In the above:
Level of VCO AM is controlled by Knob LVL 1 Attenuation of AM CV is controlled by Knob LVL 2 CV input is controlled by output of LFO/LFO - which is LFO output.
By changing Level 8 we change frequency of LFO and with Level 1 and Attenuator 1 kbobs we can scale the magnitude of Amplitude Modulation of VCO by LFO.
Now we can go to main menu and select Patch by pressing Patch button (here you can save and load your patches). By default this menu shows control assignments to physical controls:
Below you can see that LVL1 and LVL8 knobs are assigned to VCO and LFO respectively and control AM and FRQC parameters. Attenuator 1 is assigned to VCO and also controls AM.
