Make it possible for the "comment" text box label to vary by item, defined by the researcher.
For the sake of example, for items 1, 3, 4 the comment box might have the text "If word X was used figuratively, what did the speaker mean?" and for items 2, 5, 6 the comment box might have the text "If word X was used literally, what did the speaker mean?" In such an example, variable labels allow the researcher to use the comment box to elicit item-specific information.

Thank you for the suggestion! Such a feature would make sense. I think an alternative implementation would be to allow adding a question that consists only of a "comment" (=free text response), without a rating; then the question could be customized per item, and the comment label could always be e.g. "response".
We were considering this (#45) but then decided to focus on the rating functionalities first. I'll reopen it.
