Micro 8088 floppy #24
Comments
Yes, GLaBIOS by itself currently only supports "standard XT" 360K drives. This is actually a "roadmap" Issue (#5), but in the meantime there are (at least) two options:
Given that GLaBIOS is only 8 KiB, there's plenty of space in the Flash image for the Multi-Floppy BIOS extension so that's probably the simplest way to do it. It would probably make sense to include this in a distribution image, with documentation for how to alter the drive types. For what it's worth, it should work fine on the Micro 8088 without a BIOS Extension with 360K drives at least. Again - thanks for checking it out and bringing this up. Any other thoughts, problems or suggestions - please keep sending them. 640KB |
If you would like me to do any tests with your BIOS on Micro 8088, just let me know. |
I guess if you get a chance to try the 2M-XBIOS and see if that works well it'd be interesting to hear. Otherwise, would love to hear any overall impressions, issues, bugs or problems. Thank you! |
Sorry for responding so late. I haven't tried the 2M-XBIOS, as this is a DOS loaded driver, and I would like to have the ability to boot from the FDD (actually I have a GOTEK/FlashFloppy FDD emulator). Actually, until recently, this was an FDD only machine. |
That's great to hear - thanks for letting me know. If anything else comes up or have any more questions, please let me know. |
I've noticed that FDD won't work on Micro 8088 unless I add Sergey's Multi-Floppy BIOS Extension.
