When using b to move back over a word and pressing i, insert mode starts at the end of the selection instead of at the beginning. Same for pressing a, but the other way around.

Looks like this is a problem with more commands. My next commit now always puts the cursor at the start of the selection with i (regardless of whether it is the active or anchor position), and at the end of the solution with a (regardless of whether it is the active or anchor position).

Is this the expected behavior?

Yes, that's the expected behaviour! Thanks!
