Демо приложение запросило права на доступ, и после этого выдало ошибку:

We're sorry, but something went wrong.

Если речь о vkontakte_on_rails, то приложение больше не работает, т.к. ВКонтакте теперь не дает сайтам вызывать метод newsfeed.get.
