vg6d_transform imports correctly grib1 files with instantaneous data and very long timeranges (occupying 2 octets, from climatic datasets), as it can be seen using --display, but in the output the timerange information is lost:

vg6d_transform --display longtimerange.grib output.grib
grib_compare longtimerange.grib output.grib

It is probably gridinfo_class' fault.
