In the Small Area Population Estimated 2019 data, Person, Males and Females are spilt into 90 age groups (e.g. Age 1, 2 , ..., 90+) for the data zone. Which means we, if we do not combine the groups into large age-bins we would potentially add between 180-270 new columns to the Scotland Vulnerability Resources (SVR). Which is a lot.

The "normal" Mid 2019 estimated Population data set for council areas uses bins of 5 years e.g. Age 0-4, Age 5-9 ...

I suggest:

  • use 5 year age bins as in the Mid 2019 estimated Population data

  • only add Males and Females data to SVR as Person is the sum of Males and Females
Note: it still means we are adding ~40 extra columns
