Please provide instructions on how to set up the mirroring feature on Android Auto.
AAWireless Using AAWireless currently Android version is 14 and the phone is Galaxy 24

The difference between 'Fermata FS Mirror' and 'Fermata Mirror' is what? Also, what do I need to set up in the Android Auto launcher?

FS Mirror stands for Full Screen Mirror. There is no difference for small screens. You don't need to set up anything, just grant the permissions.

I followed your earlier instructions (1) opened the fermata auto app on my phone firstand (2) then connected my phone to my car's heardunit. But then there is no prompt asking for any permission.

What should I do?

Does 1.9.8 fix the Android 14 issue with 1.9.7? With AAWireless in dev mode I can use 1.96 successfully, but 1.9.7 won't work.

No, all in one apk. Just install the latest version.

What feature are you looking to use? YouTube? Video? Mirroring? If it doesn't show up even after connecting AA, try resetting the device and proceed

One question less regarding what is what. And you don't install ANYTHING. The two new symbols are in the AA Launcher, just like the Fermata Auto and Control ones are.

Next regarding the permissions. I was asked for Accessibility Permissions and these are greyed out by default on my A14 Pixel 7 Pro. I know this behavior from xDrip already though. Select it anyways to get a message with some useless explainations. Then go to the App settings page of Fermata Auto and you will see three dots above right which were not there before. There you can allow extended permissions or similar (rough translation from my german Android). Enable it, go back to Accessibility settings and now you can enable the rights there. BEWARE though, from time to time and on reboots, Android sometimes loves to remove the permissions given that way. So sometimes you might have to redo this.

AA mirror nu se deschide pe ecranul masinii, nici Performance Monitor, nici Fermata auto...Sunt sanse de remediere a acestor probleme?

Video and I'm ok if mirroring works as well, as it will make me play video streams from on my phone. So far only Fermata Control is showing on my AA screen in car and hence audio is played from the live TV but no video.

Yes I forgot all about accessibility as I had this setup working well for a long time and I initially installed Fermata Auto and Control from AAAD app. I have now installed both from the apk files by Andrey and enabled accessibility, however Fermata Auto did not show on my AA screen but only Fermata Control did and is playing audio only and not video.

Urmează referitor la permisiuni. Mi s-au cerut permisiuni de accesibilitate, iar acestea sunt incolore în mod implicit pe A14 Pixel 7 Pro. Cunosc deja acest comportament de la xDrip. Selectați-l oricum pentru a primi un mesaj cu câteva explicații inutile. Apoi accesați pagina de setări a aplicației din Fermata Auto și veți vedea trei puncte sus, dreapta, care nu erau acolo înainte. Acolo puteți permite permisiuni extinse sau similare (traducere brută din Android-ul meu german). Activați-l, reveniți la Setările de accesibilitate și acum puteți activa drepturile acolo. ATENȚIE, totuși, din când în când și la reporniri, Android uneori îi place să elimine permisiunile acordate astfel. Așa că uneori s-ar putea să trebuiască să refaceți acest lucru.

Da, am uitat totul despre accesibilitate, deoarece am avut această configurare funcțională bine de mult timp și inițial am instalat Fermata Auto și Control din aplicația AAAD. Acum am instalat atât din fișierele apk de către Andrey, cât și accesibilitatea, totuși Fermata Auto nu a apărut pe ecranul meu AA, ci doar Fermata Control a făcut-o și redă doar audio și nu video.

Da, intampin aceeasi problema.

Alright! Try enabling (Developer mode) and disabling (Direct transfer) within the AA app. Let me know if it still doesn't work!

I want to know how to use that feature in navigation, I can see the app, but can you tell me how to run it

Hallo all,

I have now also updatet from 1.96 to 1.98, first without success.
After this update, I have not had anymore an Fermata Auto Icon under AA. Only Fermata control was vissible.

  • Then I deinstalled all, Fermata Auto+Fermata Control from the phone.
  • Installed the 1.96 again for Fermata Auto+Fermata Control and restored my settings backup.
  • Then I updated once more from 1.96 to 1.98 to via downloading the booth Apps.
  • Icons where not visable in AA Launcher, and also interesting that Fermata Control has no Icon anymore in the Phone's homescreen.
  • Then I connected the HU and AA was started. I granded the acesss after while searching, but OK.
  • Now I have 4 new Icon in the HU and addtional I'm able to start Fermata Mirror FS and Fermata Mirror

Question is now, what is the advantage to have the mobile mirrored, without scrolling between the Apps itself on the Homescreen and also have no zoom possibility. So I cannot start e.g. Mail, or etc.

As I have testet this with an older Samsung phone and via USB Cable, include and non-touch HU, I cannot give an answer
if this somehow fix now the AA + A14 Problem with Fermata Auto, which is not visable in the AA launcher and in AA itself.

So far, so good, or not...

It should work if you have granted the accessibility permission.

It doesn't. As a workaround, you may use the screen mirroring.

I have now today have had 1/2 hour time to play with the 1.98.

Please see my personal findings in combination from my non-touch HU in combination with the d-pad and an non A14 Smartphone :-)

  • What is it- and what is it not.....

  • For ME it is only a feature for a 100% Screensharing, not a "selection sharing", or an "touch sharing" via the d-pad

  • I can ONLY use the d-pad to switch between ALREADY open App's. e.g. Youtube, Mail, etc. also the Homescreen is one of the windows - I can scroll force and back

  • So I cannot open a App with the Fermata Mirror FS, which was NOT open beforehand via the smartphone itself by hand.

  • Selecting menu or something different vom an open windows (search field, etc.), is not possible for me.

  • The mobile screens needs all the time on, which mean, when the max time for the screensaver (10 min for me) ends,
    the HU display with Fermata Mirror's FS goes also to black, and I have to touch the Smartphone again.

  • The Fermata Auto FS come now up as an Navigation app. So pressing the navigation button in my HU opens the Fermata Mirror FS and not the default Google Maps, or AmiGo, or Waze.

  • Every time when the car and AA start's I have to grant the permission for screen mirroring by touching the mobile.
    As my mobile is fixed in a cradle in the armrest I have always to open the armrest and grant the Fermat Mirror FS that it could work, which is Heavy, heavy anoing. --> This need to be somehow optional or in the moment, when I really what to open when Fermata Mirror App should be used, and not when I'm already driving and get the notification.

  • Also my phone is in portrait format in the cradle, which mean's, that the display from the HU is also in portrait format visible.
    --> Need to be in landscape in the HU. I need to take the phone out of the cradly in my hand an turn it from portrait format to landscape.

So for me personal there are so far to many disadvantage because I need to touch the phone during driving, and also the maximum usage ends by 10min, because I cannot expand the display time.
The mobile in the cradly in the armrest is summer getting so much hot that it switches off automatic. So I need to have the screensaver on after a minute....

Sexy, nice feature but in the current implementation not the right app for me :-(
Please make the start from the Fermata Mirror as optional, that by startup I need not to press the grant button on the phone every time :-)

Actually, there is no any autostart functionality in the app. Since Fermata FS Mirror is a nav app, AA starts the previous nav app on startup, that's why you are getting this permission request. Just start Google Map and the next time you will get the Google Map auto started. If you don't want the mirror app auto started, just use the Fermata Mirror app instead of Fermata FS Mirror.

You are totaly right, I forgot that, that always the lastest used navi App will be reloaded after a restart…

Download the head unit reloaded app. It will open Android auto on your phone and show fermata auto on your phone. You then enable the mirroring on your phone and grant the permission. It will then show your phone on your head unit of your car.

I tried around today and the mirror function is really good.
I found one thing: from time to time it is only possible to run the mirror function one single time. If I go to the main menu of Android Auto and restart the mirror function, the head unit remains black.

Moreover yesterday there was no starting app. Since today the starting app is Fermata player. Is it possible to have no starting app when mirroring?

Folks not having the icons show up are probably not using the included LSPosed module as usual to bypass Google's blacklist of apps.

And for those that don't want the permission to cast/screenshare screen to pop up you can use this adb command from a PC with USB debugging turned on and the adb fastboot tools from Google.

To permanently allow:
adb shell appops set me.aap.fermata.auto.dear.google.why PROJECT_MEDIA allow

to undo it:
adb shell appops set me.aap.fermata.auto.dear.google.why PROJECT_MEDIA ignore

Finally got it working on my Samsung Galaxy S20+. You have to Allow Restricted Settings from the menu in Android App settings for Fermata Auto app. The only issue I found so far is no audio for Stremio app. Other media app such as YouTube the audio works.

Hello.I had fermata auto working great until android 13..When android 14 came out it just stopped working..I downloaded fermata auto 1.98 but it stills don't show the fermata auto icon on android auto as before.It shows me only the fermata control icon..And I can't find the icon on fermata auto app for mirroring..That's what my fermata auto 1.98 is in photo ...Please tell me step by step what to do.. Where is the mirroring button in fermata auto app? I have a Samsung galaxy s23 ultra

What is DHU how I connect it with my phone and where can I find the fermata fs button in fermata auto 1.98 app? In the photo I send you it doesn't appear in fermata auto app.(the fermata fs button I mean)

Must be really hard to just use google, huh? "DHU Android Auto" and you know. And reading parts of the bug report you add comments to is a nice idea, too. Then you would know that Fermata has three symbols on AA aka three apps! Fermata FS is one of them and that one you start inside the DHU!

I managed to show fermata auto and fermata mirror and fermata fs on android auto on my phone through the DHU but they don't showing on my car android auto screen..It writes that my phone is not responding and it closes android auto on car screen

If this does not work for you and before doing all that downgrade / upgrade madness I would recommend to buy an AAWireless. I got mine loooong before that (I was a Backer when it was still on crowdfunding just because I did not want to plug cables all the time), happily enabled Developer Mode on it and have zero problems to run Fermata in all ways you have. No rooting, no downgrades. Of course with some nitpicks, but it just works.

Install Magisk to gain root, install the LSPosed module and enable the LSposed plugin that comes with Fermata Auto. Some devices may or may not have to use Kinginstaller to trick AA into thinking Fermata was installed from Google Play, but I doubt it's a necessary step like it was for Screen2Auto.

Hello. I'm on Xiaomi.eu Hyper OS Android 13.
Since I installed this ROM I can't get Fermata to show the FS Mirror or Fermata Mirror icons in Android Auto. It only shows Fermata Media. I do everything step by step as I did when I was on Miui 14 stock with good results, but now I can't.
Could it be because it is now a non-certified device?
If I root and install Safetynet fix, could it be fixed?
Thanks in advance.
Edit : now device is certified. Still same problem. ROM's bug maybe ?
