m68k is the processor family which powered the Classic Macintosh platform. The name is an abbreviation for Motorola 68000, the first processor in the series, which powered the original Classic Macintosh. The last processor to be used in the Classic Macintosh platform was the 68040, released in 1990.
The 68040 is supported by the Basilisk II Macintosh emulator.
