Hi,

Unfortunately, B-DNS only supports recent versions of Firefox. Maybe this is also true for chrome, but I am not sure about that. E.g. older Debian distros come with a relatively old Firefox version, so that B-DNS cannot be installed. This is a pitty since a wider support of browsers may increase the use of your addon.

Moreover, it seems, that configuration of the "DNS-server" is nontrivial. Maybe this can be improved so that people who are unfamiliar with network configuration or even experts can more easily and freely choose a server for resolution.

Finally, there is real interest in an independent domain name system. There is a discussion in the Namecoin thread on bitcointalk.org how to push an alternative domain name system:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=6017.1460

Maybe you should join the discussion. I think this would be beneficial for everyone: people who are interested in the technology have a tool at hand to browse *.bit and other domains and you get to know what the costumer wants.

Best regards,
cu

Mozilla has dropped support for old style extensions. Given that even last ESR with that support will be phased out this year, developing a separate version of this addon specifically for old (read unmaintained) is not feasible for me.

Moreover, it seems, that configuration of the "DNS-server" is nontrivial.

It's not hard to change DNS config on Windows and Linux at all. There are multiple DNS resolvers that support NMC/EMC (see OpenNIC). BDNS is meant for average user who doesn't care about configuring anything, and such user is unlikely to use an old browser.
