Move notes to other folders in Wiki mode #690
Comments
Hi, You are linking the issue from boostnote legacy here. Can you check this (#682) question and reply to find a way to do this properly in boostnote.next? |
if you're using Wiki mode, yeah, it is not implemented yet. |
@theericbeaty But I want to make sure that you are using wiki mode. The screenshots you've shared don't related to our app. What do they mean? Also, could you make a gif video of how you drag your notes? You can make one easily with these app. https://gyazo.com/en https://getkap.co/ |
I was using Wiki mode. But I've since decided to stick with the Legacy version for the time being because of the features. Thanks for your help anyway. |
It's been fixed already. Sorry for my late reponse |
Well, thanks for this feedback. So, if I understood correctly, it is more appropriate to use the specifically local version for this kind of features? I must admit I'm a bit lost in the different variants of the project. 🤔 |
Hi, gizmecano, Now you basically have 2 options:
Both of the applications support drag and drop now, so you can choose whichever suits you. The cloud space also does not have any limits on the number of documents and viewers to share the space with. If you have any other questions, please let me know. |
Indeed, I have at least one question: if I decide to install this new local variant (because I want to use my data privately without any cloud service), will my existing notes be compatible with my current version (I was using Boost Note 0.13.2)? Thanks. |
Hi, gizmecano, I highly suggest you to backup your data prior to any updates from such an old version. Once you are safe and have a backup, you can tell me which local storage are you actually using, if that is legacy cloud or local storage (PouchDB) rather than file system local storage (there is a difference)? If you are using PouchDB - deprecated storages, do not update immediately to the latest cloud space version, you can update versions one at a time (always latest patch), and then get to the latest release - to get all important messages about storage deprecations. If you are, however using local file system storage, this means 2 things:
Also, since new latest local space, only desktop application will not have loaded any storage when you install it, it is safe to install it, and try loading your file system storage (so if you have legacy ones you need to convert them first in the cloud app but with mentioned versions 0.19.x for example, and if you have a file system, you can back it up and load it in latest local space app) |
Thanks a lot for you detailed comment. I was using a file system local storage with my previous installation. By following steps and safety measures you mentionned, I was able to install the new local version and reinstall my data backup data without any apparent problem (at this time). |
Hi, okay, that seems great, if you encounter any issues please open here: https://github.com/BoostIO/BoostNote.next-local |
Can't drag and drop notes into folders I create.
For some reason, I'm unable to drag and rearrange notes into folders with Boostnote 0.10.2 like I could with the Legacy version. According to this forum post, this feature was supposed to be fixed by now.
If it has been implemented already, please tell me how to enable it.
Here's what my Console is showing (Console and its codes are foreign to me, but it was suggested I do this):
Expected behavior: Relocate/rearrange notes within folders
Should be able to drag and drop notes from one folder to another, or rearrange them within the same folder
