Holy Paladins are today the best healer in the arena and will only be better in the coming seasons(more crit from pve = more instant heals).
One talent that makes them better than other healers, and also makes them frustrating to play against, is ''Sacred Cleansing''.
I suggest this talent is changed to ''Your Cleanse ability now has a 10/20/30% chance to dispel 2 Magic effects instead of 1''

Pros:

  • Will tune down Holy Paladins in the arena to balance healers.
  • Will make it less frustrating to play against. This is probably the main reason, anyone that got their spells resisted know the feeling.
  • Diversity of comps will increase.
  • Will not affect pve.
  • Have been tried before and everything above happened.
    Cons:
  • Not like the original Wotlk.

Other possible alternatives of the talent tuning:


  • Your Cleanse spell has a 10% / 20% / 30% chance to increase the target's resistance to Disease, Magic and Poison by 1% / 2% / 3% for 10sec.
  • Your Cleanse spell has a 10% / 20% / 30% chance to increase the target's resistance to Disease, Magic and Poison by 2% / 3% / 4% for 10sec.
  • Your Cleanse spell has a 10% / 20% / 30% chance to increase the target's resistance to Disease, Magic and Poison by 3% for 10sec.

This way you keep the mechanic of the talent intact while giving players the ability to counter the talent in question by stacking hit rating above the general hit cap --> #143
The price ppl would pay is lower stats that they would otherwise gem/enchant/gear for so its not like you are giving out a welfare either...


  • Make Sacred Cleansing dispelable and reduce the chance for it to proc. The dispel resistance is not affected by the aura.

  • Your Cleanse ability now has a 10/20/30% chance to dispel 2 harmful spells (depends on the debuffs present but only allow to dispel 1 for each "school" - e.g. 1 magic + 1 disease OR 1 magic + 1 poison OR 1 disease + 1 poison --> never 2 of the same kind).

If the changes for this talent will ever be considered by devs - which is doubtful - I second the 3.3.5b AT patch version @Dverikk has in mind as a holy paladin main. However, I'd suggest to set the chance to proc the additional dispel to 33/66/100% respectively for 1/3, 2/3, 3/3 to keep this talent in line with others instead of making it close to useless.

This change would reduce the RNG part to minimum, definitely would save a lot of frustration everyone facing holy paladins in arena and still keep the talent worth considering.
