Describe the bug

I often prepare different recipes that attempt to be very calories-dense per portion and I experiment a lot with different recipes and ingredients. I have noticed (maybe because ingame it was winter and it happened very often) that sometimes calories content of food that was prepared from other frozen ingredients will be showing a certain amount (let's say +1000 calories per portion), and after a bit there is some trigger (see below) and suddenly the calories amount grows by about 3x. I had two batches of food prepared from identical ingredients and one got "pumped up" and the other one didn't. I am trying to figure out the triggers right now so maybe narrow where it goes wrong/right and I will try to calculate which of the calories is supposed to be the correct value, but I hope other people can confirm this behavior too.

Potential triggers - putting the prepared food to freeze as well, re-entering the reality bubble, reloading the game.

Recipes I've seen it happen to certainly - pemmican, onion rings, milkshake (with chocolate bars, that's where one portion went up and the other didn't). Some other ones that contained dried corn kernels, I would see the kernels suggesting more calories during crafting than the final product had, and then pump up after freezing sometimes.

If you have seen this behavior and remember the recipe or ingredients, please mention them.

Steps To Reproduce

Still trying to reproduce reliably, but in general

  1. Prepare a food recipe that requires ingredients that you have frozen (maybe a recipe with dried corn kernels that are frozen afterwards)
  2. Keep an eye on the initial calories after the preparation
  3. Activate trigger <--- still trying to identify which one exactly
  4. Notice calories content got changed

Expected behavior

I expect consistent calories calculation and behavior :)

I just noticed that the onion rings that jumped in calories (I kept 1 portion to examine) had some extra 16 animal oil portions listed in the contents that are not part of the original recipe and correspond to the potential jump in almost 2000 calories. Not sure why and how they appeared in there.

I similarly have leftovers of one of the milkshakes that grew in calories and checked the contents as well vs the recipe itself:

The recipe for the milkshake lists 10 sugars, but in the contents you can see a total of 79 sugars used.

So a bit puzzled now.

It seems to happen when you use a full container/batch of a material + some extra. For some reason, the full container of that material is included in the made from list.

IIRC you can replicate it like this

  1. Make 2 sealed jars/cans of condensed milk containing 20 condensed milk each.
  2. Batch craft 21 cookies using that can of condensed milk.
  3. Save and reload

Batch crafting 20 cookies is fine, but when you batch craft 21 it breaks (image below shows what happens before save/reload)
(I was using My Sweet Cataclysm in this world but it happens on my last world without the mod)

After reload. The (20) is added after reload.

After a bit more testing, the container does not even need to be full. I tested with 2 jars of condensed milk with 3 and 4 of it and i got this.

(1 jar is spawned in, 1 jar is made from spawned in milk)

@Maleclypse I was looking for things to confirm. Seems this already has been though, unless people would prefer additional confirmations? (DuskNite seems to have been pretty thorough though)

I was just about to make an issue about this. Although I noticed it seems to happen with no containers. Anything I make and it freezes, then thaws, it seems to multiply it's calorie count. Got this today

Fried Dandelions and Burdocks most certainly aren't almost 4k calories :D
