I'm not sure if this tree is the official repository or if https://bitbucket.org/wwmm/svg/ is? This is confusing to someone new to the project. There is also a duplicate issue tracker: https://bitbucket.org/wwmm/svg/issues?status=new&status=open . Are the issues in the bitbucket tracker also present in the github tree or were they solved when the project was, and I assume, migrated to github?

This issue affects multiple ContentMine components.

At time of writing:

  • the canonical public code repositories for ContentMine is GitHub;
  • the BitBucket repositories are deprecated.

I am not aware of any other public ContentMine repositories, but if anyone reading this is aware of any, do please note them in a comment below so that they can be pointed at the corresponding current repositories.

TODO: post a note (or HTTP redirect?) at every deprecated ContentMine BitBucket repository, pointing to the corresponding GitHub repository. @petermr, please can you give me access to the ContentMine BitBucket repositories so that I can edit them accordingly?

👍 for http redirect (if possible)
This is such a good idea. I wish I'd done that when we migrated to github.

Seems that at least some of the BitBucket repositories have wikis attached to them that have not been migrated to GitHub, e.g. https://bitbucket.org/wwmm/svg/wiki/Home .

These ought to be migrated to wherever ContentMine is to host its code for the foreseeable future. To avoid having to perform that migration more than once, I would like to reach consensus on #2 before expending effort resolving this issue (i.e. #5).

I have (I think) effective counterarguments for most or all of the reasons that have been given at #2 against moving to GitLab, and I think that overall, GitLab would be a big win for ContentMine. It will take me a little time to marshal those counterarguments and to post them at #2.

Responding due to automated ping @mjw99.

@sampablokuper Have I missed something here? The two examples that I quoted in the first comment in this ticket are still present, yet the ticket was closed.

No, you haven't missed anything that I'm aware of. Completely agree with you. @petermr appears to have closed this ticket (and several others) in error this morning. Re-opening accordingly.
