Welcome to the Dutch Magento 2 Translation wiki!

Quick start

Do you want to translate? Go to https://crowdin.com/project/magento-2/nl#/Head and get going!

About this project

Currently the official Magento 2 translations are managed via CrowndIn. However, the CrowdIn-based translations are then offered in a so-so way to the end-users. Official Magento translations are in the end distributed via the Magento core packages. But third party translations are managed independently.

Goal of this Dutchento project is to streamline the process of translation, offering of translation strings and communication on translations in the community.

Task: Improve offering of CrowdIn sources

Currently the official CrowdIn project links (through its description) to an extremely ugly link http://107.170.242.99/download.php which takes ages to load and then allows you to download all languages. This could be improved by running a cronjob instead which downloads only the Dutch files periodically and uploads them to a central Dutchento repository (this repo?).

Task: Improve language pack structure

Most of the language packs currently offered are bundeling their translations in a single CSV file plus a definition file (language.xml). Instead, it might be better to separate CSV strings per Magento module, which allows for better searching and also allows for easy addition of third party extensions.

Task: Investigate alternatives to CrowdIn

There are more translation engines then CrowdIn: OneSkyApp, Transifex, Straker Solutions. Perhaps these alternatives should be embraced as well.
