SMuFL-Browser

SMuFL-Browser is a web based viewer for the Standard Music Font Layout specification which facilitates searching and browsing of musical symbols. Additionally it serves as a TEI reference for the SMuFL specification so encoders can easily add musical symbols to their texts. A web service provides those character declarations in several formats. For more information see https://smufl-browser.edirom.de/about.html.

Changelog

  • update fonts to Bravura v1.38
  • replace selectize plugin for select boxes with select2.
  • switch to Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0) along with BSD 2-Clause
  • minor updates to the build process
  • replace potentially offensive Git branch name 'master' with 'main'.

Files

With this release you'll find additional files from the Downloads section:

  • SMuFL-Browser-1.4.0.xar: an app package to be installed within eXist-db. This is the web service.
  • charDecl.xml.zip: a TEI document with the complete SMuFL character declarations (as a zip archive)

Credits

Credits are due to Daniel Spreadbury and his great work on the SMuFL specification.
The functionality of the SMuFL-Browser was highly inspired by James Cummings' work on the ENRICH Gaiji Bank.
