Signal cuts out but not fully

Hi guys I'm new to expresslrs so I'm still learning, I managed to set it all up fine and connect it to my drone, I've got a TX16S with a expresslrs ranger module on the back and a RP1 receiver. Everything starts off okay and half way through the flight my radio will say "singal lost" and display no signal bars, however the connection can't be lost because it still flies but it's like it's only recieving information half of the time, like for half a second it will react to controls, then cut out for half a second, then repeat until I land and restart. The firmware on the module and receiver are both 3.1.1
Does anyone have a clue why mine might be doing this and how I fix this? I just use standard settings I haven't modified or changed anything and obviously it does work but cuts out but not fully for seemingly no reason
