Kia ora,

I've been looking back at some seismic data in 2005 and have spotted the following:

Looking back at some earthquakes during that time in the Bay of Plenty area (e.g., https://www.geonet.org.nz/earthquake/technical/2364035), it seems that they are being located with seismic data that is not available through the GeoNet FDSN webservice. Two easy examples are stations on Whakaari (WIZ) and Tuhua (MYRZ), which are both being used to locate this earthquake on 12/02/2005. However according to the station info, and the seismic data available for download, these stations weren't installed until 19/09/2006 and 13/02/2006, respectively.

  • Does early data for these stations (and others) exist that is not available through the FDSN webservice?
  • How were they used for these earthquake locations?

Cheers,
Finn

Hi @FinniganIK thanks for this

  • HH/EH data have their data metadata available through FDSN
  • SH data weak mnorion short period telemetered have their data only availble
Gain and response re not created due to uinklonws (yet)

This should/will be documented and/or fixed (i expect)
in short cit. Mark C. :)
"Note, due to the nature of the telemetry in most cases we actually won't know what the full responses are. It may be possible to invert back for gain .... but that's another project."
