Possibility to add free users

It would be awesome to be possible to add free users somehow. For example, I could be able to give a free usage in exchange for promoting my extension, or just give it out to friends.

Thanks for the ping! This is a helpful signal for what to prioritize.

Right now I'm still asking people to email me if they want to add users. So far very few developers using ExtensionPay have emailed me needing to add free users so I haven't prioritized it! I'm happy to promptly add them for you if you need.

And of course eventually this feature will be added because you shouldn't have to email me to manage your extension users, but I think it's an ok stop-gap in the meantime. :)

I would also use this. Giving a free month would be great way to make up for any mistakes I make, or be able to incentivize referrals, etc.

This is also something that I would like to support in my extension.

I am planning to charge a one-time fee for the extension.

However, I am also planning to give away my extension to select users for free forever in return for some testimonials or as a giveaway to promote the extension. Let me know how can I accomplish that.

@Glench does the process of adding free users go similar to how you did it before? I email you the emails of users I want to use the service for free, and you will add them to my extension?

Do you have any updates on the feature? We're looking to send our extension to journalists for review, but we don't want to ask them to pay for an upgrade to access the Pro version!

Unfortunately, we do not have access to their email addresses. However, we can try reaching out to the press via email and request them to write about us. They may refer us to a reporter whom we are unfamiliar with.

We would appreciate it if you could provide us with a field to input a one-time coupon code, similar to other stores, and also a backend feature that generates a list of coupons that consider duration.
Kindly take this into consideration or suggest similar alternatives.

You could create an email address that you will maintain ownership of, have Glen give it free paid access, then send the email address and extensionpay password (or however it works) to the reviewer(s).

Then when you want to revoke access: just change the extensionpay password (or however it works.)

There are no passwords. To log in, the user needs access to the email account to receive the login email. The only way to revoke access is to ask Glen. Also, there's a limit to the number of simultaneous logins.

You know, a lot of people have commented here that they want this feature, yet in practice very few people actually ask to have free users added to their extensions. I'm wondering what the disconnect is.

Personally I don't want to bother you by sending emails with my list of users and I implemented a dirty workaround. And I don't know about your response time so it's hard to promise something to my users. I think that even if you didn't get many requests via mail, it's still a very needed feature and many would use it if it will be made available on the platform.

Personally, I REALLY wanted to use Extension pay. But as it stands, I won't use it because it's lacking tiers and I can't do freebies or coupons without emailing you. I'm trying to run a professional business and having to contact you and wait for a response, rather than immediately fill my customer's needs doesn't fit into my business plan. So it's likely that's one of the reasons. Anyone who needs those features has moved on to something else since It doesn't meet our needs. We're neither using it, nor asking your for anything related to it.

Right now, I am speaking as an entrepreneur rather than a developer. After several years of inquiring about this feature and multi-plan functions, I have come to the conclusion that I will not ask again. It seems that the developer team of Extension Pay has no intention of adding any additional features beyond what they currently offer. Perhaps there is no financial benefit for them!

I second this. I used extensionpay for some of my beta testing and hoped that some of this would happen before release. But as I got closer to release, I realized I was going to need to find a different solution. So I did. It's far more complicated than extensionpay would have been (I really wanted that simplicity) but it's also more robust.

Alright all, since you are all so passionate I've released an initial version of this feature which has been in development for a while. It simply hasn't been a priority because, empirically speaking, nobody has been using it! As you can understand, if nobody is using something in practice then it's not really deemed a priority, but as you all spoke up in this thread we decided to add it.

I want you to understand that your needs are important and our team is hearing them, but our team is also small and doesn't have a huge amount of capacity. At the moment, we are prioritizing the addition of tiered pricing (which will likely also include coupons). As you might imagine this touches every part of the system and we want to make sure everything goes smoothly, so it will take some time. Thanks for your understanding.
