Is it possible to create a row below the header

I am not a fan of the filter option where you click on the filter icon and an input box is shown.

Would it be possible to create an extra row below the header where I can put input boxes for each column. I would like to use it for my own custom server side searching using axios.

There is customize-headers slot, but as it says you then cannot use sorting feature.
