Abstract
An introduction to an old but a famous communication protocol, IRC and why should we switch to it.

Contents

  • Communication and its need
  • OSS world depends on collaboration and trust among developers and communication play major role in this.
  • What, actually is IRC?
  • How IRC works?
  • Why should we use it?
  • Problems with it and its solution.
  • Bouncers
  • Cloaks and protecting the privacy!
  • Matrix, another protocol famous in OSS world.
  • Communication Etiquettes: most important if you wanna stay here for long :P
  • Little of handson, by letting people try IRC themselves :)

Expected Duration
Approximate duration of the talk would be around 30-45 minutes. (I am really bad with estimation, so may take a little more or less :P)

Thanks for the proposal.
This talk can be done under 20min I think. Maybe you can add "how-to" setup irc-bouncers like ZNC. Which would be useful.

Personally, I would love to see a talk on building an IRC bot too. (just a suggestion). Maybe @xeon-zolt can help you out or you guys can collaborate.

Any changes to the talk content that you're planning to do?

Sorry for the late reply, I was having issues with my laptop.

The content for the talk is as explained above. For the IRC bots, a separate talk would be better(IMO).
I can give the talk at next meetup and please review the slides for any suggestions @sourabhtk37 :)
