IE 4.1.2 - Automatically rename duplicates ?

While converting a few hundred textures to PNG, I came across this crash :

Turns out there were 2 textures with the same name but a different extension (JPG and DDS) that were converted to the same format. Perhaps IE could manage this exception by renaming the duplicate(s) instead of crashing ? I suppose it's not an issue people will run into often, so I can understand if you prefer to ignore it.
