Installing Printer Brother MFC-L2700DW

Download the Driver:

https://support.brother.com/g/b/downloadlist.aspx?c=us_ot&lang=en&prod=mfcl2700dw_us_eu_as&os=128#SelectLanguageType-625_0_1

  1. Click "Driver Install Tool" to Download the tool
  2. Then "English"
  3. Then "Agree to the EULA and Download"

How to install, from official site:

  • Step1. Download the tool.(linux-brprinter-installer-..-.gz)

The tool will be downloaded into the default "Download" directory. (The directory location varies depending on your Linux distribution.) e.g. /home/(LoginName)/Download

  • Step2. Open a terminal window. (Ctrl+Alt+T)

  • Step3. Go to the directory you downloaded the file to in the last step. By using the cd command.

e.g. cd Downloads

  • Step4. Enter this command to extract the downloaded file:

Command: gunzip linux-brprinter-installer-..-.gz

e.g. gunzip linux-brprinter-installer-2.2.1-1.gz

  • Step5. Get superuser authorization with the "su" command or "sudo su" command.

  • Step6. Run the tool:

Command: bash linux-brprinter-installer-..- Brother machine name

e.g. bash linux-brprinter-installer-2.2.1-1 MFCL2700DW

  • Step7. The driver installation will start. Follow the installation screen directions.

When you see the message "Will you specify the DeviceURI ?",

Choose Y (Yes)

  • Type the number of the option "(I) - Specify IP Address"

Inform the Printer Ip Address: 10.9.8.189

DON'T PRINT THE TEST PAGE. A natureza agradece ;)

Using the Scanner

  • Use Simple Scan (Native Ubuntu scanning tool)

  • Search in software center for simple scanner or go to Applications->Graphics->Simple Scan

  • Click Scan (Will scan if you installed the printer driver correctly)

Alternativelly

  • Install gscan2pdf

sudo apt install gscan2pdf

  • Open gscan2pdf and use the Scanner
