Windows7 64Bit
LMMS 1.3.0 Alpha 64Bit

Okay lets try this forum out again, we will start out first with some bugs....

After closing LMMS the program stays running in the background which you can see in the Task Manager.
Depending on speed of computer most may not notice this.
I first noticed this when testing LMMS on a weaker computer and experienced that after closing LMMS all of a sudden the computer would lose complete functionality (slow, pauses, gltiches, etc.)
These glitches would go away right after manually closing LMMS task in the Task Manager.

I then tested on a slightly faster machine and same issue it stays open, but computer runs ok after.
CPU seems to jump up 20-30% gain after program is closed.
Sometimes it stays running in background for a while, but I have also noticed that in some cases it will only stay running in for about 30 seconds to a 1 minute and then closes on its own.

It appears that LMMS may be experiencing a little bit of separation anxiety, which I can fully understand.
If I am to be honest after closing out LMMS there is a part of me that doesn't quite want to fully let go either....

Edit:
Only occurs for me when using LMMS 1.3.0 Alpha 64Bit
This does not happen when I use 1.2.2 version

I wasn't able to reproduce this bug on Windows 10 64bit by clicking the X (close button) in the top right corner of the main LMMS window.

How are you closing the program? Can you give step-by-step instructions for reproducing the bug?

Did the project have any VSTs ?
Could you try with a default project?
I like to use
projects\demos\Greippi - Krem Kaakkuja (SecondFlight Remix).mmpz
Because it is a large project, but everything is with default content!
Can you reproduce the shut-down lag ? @sound8 -with that project?

Hey guys, thank you for the responses.

A mentioned, happens all the time no matter what.

Opening fresh instances of LMMS
Opening fresh instances of LMMS and then immediately closing
Opening demo projects
Opening from saved project files
When I close using "X"
If I close using Ctrl + Q
Projects with VSTs
Projects wihout VSTs
I am telling you it happens when I am trying to make music on a plane
It happens when I am making dope beats on a train
All the time I tell you

Would be nice to find someone with Windows 7 64Bit to verify if this happens for everyone using this OS or if my version of LMMS and I just share a special kind of bond.

This does not happen when I use 1.2.2 64Bit version
Only occurs for me when using 1.3.0 Alpha 64Bit
so something was added that generated this behavior

Like I said tried on two different systems, same OS but with different hardware, so not necessarily a hardware issue, but seems it is probably an LMMS + Windows 7 based issue if people using Windows 10 are not experiencing it.

Anyways thanks again for the responses, I hope this helps.
If you know of any users that use Windows 7 that could test this out that would be great in narrowing down the cause of this.

Question
I am using the LMMS 1.3.0 Alpha (64Bit) version which shows on the website was released in April 2021. Is there a newer version of Alpha available?

I was excited when I saw that new builds were given the label "Nightly Builds" because I thought that this would mean more Windows releases throughout the year, but it appears that there is still a once a year release as before, just with a new "Nightly Build" label, just one long night.
Can someone tell me if this is correct or is there a different location of Nightly builds to download that I am unaware of?

Before someone jumps down my throat, I understand that resources are limited with this project as it has been said many times, I am just asking to make sure that I am using the most up to date available version for Windows to eliminate confusion when posting my findings.

I have never compiled a version before, I have seen the section about how to do it for Windows but seems too complicated for me at the moment. Also I try to do a lot of testing of the program to help find issues and come with ideas to share and would be rather confusing to then wonder if the issues I am finding are due to LMMS code or my compiling of it.

Ooo... This is on a labtop running on battery!
Shutting down on a battery labtop is strange.. You may need to manually force 'cleaning' of the windows 'fast-start-cache'. ..
I cant remember if win7 had that 'fast-start-cache'. 8 did, and also 10.
Try shutting lmms down, but when you close the pc, hold SH down and then choose 'shut-down' in start menu as you hold down SH.

Thank you for your response
No sorry about that I am on a desktop (some users may not be familiar with the Dr. Seuss reference).
And it is not a shut down of system it is a closing of the program itself.

Hopefully someone will be able to replicate / fix this.
I test out LMMS quite a bit to see if I can help find any issues, inconsistencies, features to share, etc.
Really a pain to have to keep on closing the program and then having to open the Task Manager to close the program down in the background.

Could you try changing the audio interface setting in the setting dialog?
