Thanks for the plugin!
The odometer was really not enough for those with only a GPS receiver.

Several wishes

  1. Start / Stop button - must have its own individual signature. It happens that it is not clear whether it is turned on or off at the moment
  2. If you leave only the odometer enabled in the properties, then a large empty field remains in the odometer window, see attachment. The height of the window should change automatically depending on the content.
  3. Where is the Sum Log dumped?
  4. There is not enough docking function for combining with dasboard
  5. Ideally, I would like to integrate with the Dasboard. There are a lot of plugins and they clutter up the toolbar. Ideally, this functionality could simply be added to the standard dashboard.

bc38, thanks for you comments.

  1. The trip timer indicates/counts if started so you have that as an indicator. I've tried to get the button text to indicate but it is extremely tricky and not reliable as the button text is locked to the button, I have to switch buttons. I'll give it another shot for a future release.
  2. This is a bug inherited from dashboard and they have not been able to fix it there either, probably caused by limitations in wxWidgets. Restarting OpenCPN should allow you to resize the window.
  3. Not sure what you mean with 'dumped'. All parameters, including the sumlog, are written to the OpenCPN configuration file, look for 'TotalDistance'. Click the question mark in the left side menu and look for 'Config file' in the dialog that opens.
  4. and 5. It is not intended to be docked with dashboard as dashboard is integrated with OpenCPN and there is no way for me to dock or integrate it. An integration is 'far above my paygrade' and a decision taken by the OpenCPN R&D team, not me.
Fact is that I would not mind seeing it integrated either, it should have been there from the very beginning.

bc38,
verified the button text functionality once again. The text is added when the dialog is originally built not to be called again. The only way to change the text is to completely tear down the dialog, change the text and then build the dialog from scratch again.
This is the default OpenCPN method and one reason the settings menu is used when updating dialog items. Compare with the default dashboard using a similar method.
Trying to make a work-around would likely cause other problems like a flickering dialog or even worse. The text on the buttons can hence not be changed on-the-fly.
