ZOOM.

Wikipedia article on Zoom Video Communications

Directions for using Zoom in the Oslo Portal (updated 30 August 2019):

When you (Oslo) enter the room in the morning, do the following:

  • Make sure that the iPad is charging and open up the "Zoom room app"
  • Enter the letter code, which will appear on the TVs. (NEC on matrix 1/1 and Sony on matrix 2/2)
  • Now, you should have a connection between the Zoom room, the PC and the iPad
  • Try to call "NTNU portal" (Robin will later try to set automatic meetings every day)
  • Via the iPad, you can control every parameter; camera angle, audio, etc.
  • As a default, Huddly cam is selected. I recommend you to use the Logitech cam (the flickering issue has been fixed)
  • If you need to perform changes under "Settings", the code is 00000

Troubleshooting:

  • If you don't get any Internet connection, make sure that Wifi is set to "nettbrett 2"
  • If the letter code does not match, use "retry" on the iPad
  • No audio or video; make sure that the correct audio and video source and output is selected under settings

How to share screen (* and sound played from your computer if preferred *)

  1. Press green tab/button at the navigation line (Share-button).
  2. Choose which screen to share (* and press "Share computer sound" down left *), then press green share-button.

To end share mode press the red stop-button at the top of the screen

Preferences

Turn off "automatically adjust microphone" function

  • Navigate to "Preferences" - "Audio" - uncheck the box where it says "automatically adjust microphones". This feature might cause your levels to go through the roof. One of the important issues in communication via zoom is the level of people talking around the room, which is being automated by default, by the Zoom. So if the box is checked it is being changed constantly to equalize the different sound sources (people talking around the room) on the same level. Therefore it's important to turn it off, whenever one logs in to that program, in order to be able to adjust the proper level manually.
Audio Setting

Enable HD

  • Navigate to "Preferences" - "Video" - under "My Video", check the "Enable HD" box
