How to add new audio to LE1 conversations

vegz edited this page Mar 3, 2023 · 3 revisions

This tutorial was created assuming you know how to make an ISACT Content Bank and ISACT Sample Bank. If not, go take a look at Editing LE1 Audio and come back after you see the basics of how this 2005 software works.

WHAT YOU NEED FOR THIS TUTORIAL:

ISACT VERSION 1.6.4

Mass Effect 1 audio replacement is much different than the other two games in the trilogy due to the usage of ISACT.

1 - Create your dialogue tree

IF YOU DO NOT KNOW HOW TO DO THIS, I RECOMMENED LOOKING AT THIS BEFORE CONTINUING. I will not be going into depth on how to create a dialogue tree in this tutorial. I highly recommend taking a look at the LEX wiki before attempting this with any knowledge. https://github.com/ME3Tweaks/LegendaryExplorer/wiki/Overview-of-the-Dialogue-Editor

In order to add new audio, you will need a dialogue tlk file as well as a bioconversation file. Once the dialogue tree is done, you should have something like this in the .pcc where your conversation is located.

DIALGOUE

2 - Create your ISB, ICB and .SAC files

Now what you're going to want to do is open up ISACT. The first step in ISACT is to create an ISB, Project and ICB and save them in the same folder.

3 - Add your audio files to the ISACT sample bank aka .ISB

Next step is to import your .wav files into the ISACT Sample Bank. You want to do this for every line that you want to be voiced. Your end result should look something like this, in this dialogue there is only three lines so I only have three .wav files in the ISB.

4 - Create Sound Events in the ISACT Content Bank aka .ICB

This is where dialogue audio editing is much different than regular music editing. Instead of making a "Sound Event" and a "Sound Queue" for each .wav file from the .ISB, you want to give each .wav file its own "Sound Event" only. No "Sound Queue" is required for dialogue editing.

If you are doing femshep and maleshep audio, you must have two sound events for each gender.

TLK NUMBERS ISB

The VO numbers also must match the tlk number inside the dialogue file.
