Creating a new Exploration

What is an Exploration?

Explorations connect Locations and/or Areas in a cohesive, organized way and are meant to be experienced in an ordered sequence. Explorations are a great way to pull Locations and Areas from different Exhibits together, without having to create new contents. This means that you have to create Locations and Areas before you can create Explorations.

Creating a new Exploration

  1. Select Explorations from the menu on the lefthand side. You'll see a list of your Projects and any Explorations they might contain.
  2. Click on the dots to the right of the Project where you want to create a new Exploration.
  3. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and select New Exploration.
  4. You'll see a map showing the existing Locations and Areas in your Project. Select and connect the ones you'd like to use in your new Exploration, in the desired order (you can change it later). When you're happy, click DONE!
  5. Enter a name and description for the exploration, reorder the stops if needed, and add a thumbnail and header. When you're done, click Save Exploration.

Don't worry if you change your mind about your exploration. With MBira, it's possible to edit or delete explorations.
