Describe the bug

Try to install 2.2.0 in Curseforge Launcher

Expected behavior

Expected it to fully install

Observed/actual behavior

Error "Object reference not set to an instance of an object."

Steps To Reproduce

  1. Launch Curseforge
  2. Search for Fabulously Optimized
  3. Click Install
  4. Wait for the download-install progress
  5. Get error

Modpack version

2.2.0

Launcher

Curseforge Launcher

Install method

Fresh install/new profile

Additional context

  • Curseforge's Discord members told me "it may not be synced yet", that did not end up being the problem
  • Tried recreating the pack with same mods/config, same problem
  • I don't seem to be able to install the ZIP-file manually either, with the error "selected zip file contains an invalid profile".
  • Tried the new version of Curseforge Launcher, did not fix

Made a ticket to Curseforge team for more information and temporarily marked 2.2.0 as beta to prevent new users getting errors.

Update: got in contact with a Curseforge dev and we are working to fix the issue.
The issue with the launcher is:

The current issue, with the launcher, is that it tries to [due to the mods that list it as a dependency] access Indium but because it is deleted [on Curseforge], it fails

Overall it turned out to be a chain of issues:

  1. Colormatic lists Indium as an optional dependency
  2. Curseforge Launcher attempts to download Indium and fails because there are no files
  3. Indium has no files because the latest Sodium is not available on Curseforge
  4. Latest Sodium is not on Curseforge because JellySquid is having issues with her account

And now the mitigations:

  1. Curseforge Launcher will improve their error handling to give better errors and in some cases, ignore errors altogether
  2. Indium dev has agreed to upload the mod to Curseforge right away (done)
  3. Curseforge will contact JellySquid to get account problems fixed and hopefully upload newest Sodium to CF (done)
  4. This modpack will get a 2.2.1 release as a way to update mods and indicate that things are working now (done)

Also notable: #146 happened at the same time but that was all my fault 😄
