Issues upgrading from Java 8 (Upgrade loop)

Imagine you're prepped for an epic showdown, primed to conquer in the latest Dev or Milestone release of your favorite game. You're all set, engines roaring, but Java 8 throws a wrench in the works – it demands Java 11 and nudges you towards an update.

Here comes the twist: You upgrade, press 'run', and... whoosh, it's déjà vu! The same update prompt pops up again. The culprit isn't the game; it's Java 8 playing tricks. When Oracle open-sourced Java, they halted updates for their JRE version, trapping you in a loop that keeps circling back to Java 8. It's like a Locust in a NASCAR race – round and round with no finish line in sight.

But there's a ray of hope: the MegaMek team has crafted an easy-to-follow guide for transitioning to an open-source Java version. Follow our instructions, and soon you'll be back in the game, ready to show your friends who's the real boss.
