Hi!

This document mentions that when deploying a zone-redundant ASEv3, we will incur the cost of 9 (nine) Windows I1v2 App Service Plans. The "Create ASE v3" document, however, contains a portal screenshot that shows that the minimal instance count for a zone-redundant ASEv3 will be 3 (three).

Could you please clarify? Do we need at least three but pay for nine?

Also, according to this doc, Azure West Europe supports AZ ASEv3, but the portal GUI doesn't expose the setting. Is it a setting that's still limited to template deployments?

Thanks!

There is some pricing information in the General Availability announcement which may help? https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/apps-on-azure/announcing-app-service-environment-v3-ga/ba-p/2517990

The GA announcement has the same info as the docs. My concern is that it is inconsistent with the GUI / portal experience, which indicates that:

"The minimum App Service plan instance count will be three."

Three is logical (three av zones), and nine is a bit... over the top? Ultimately, from a cost perspective, we'd be better off using ASEv2 to get a zone-redundant deployment.

Hi @rwiankowski and @gitstua, I've assigned the content author so we can better clarify this.

Hi @rwiankowski and @SnehaAgrawal-MSFT ,

I just recently implemented IAC via Bicep for all environments for my company and are wanting to utilize V3 of ASE deployments which is currently in public preview. Like @rwiankowski has mentioned previously the UI is inconsistent and I am unsure how to track the cost. I understand ASE_V3 is supposed to be significantly less costly than the other versions but would appreciate more clarification.

ASEv3 is in GA. The pricing details are in documentation: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/app-service/environment/overview#pricing
For more details on the different deployment types, read this: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/app-service/environment/creation#deployment-considerations
for the actual pricing on dedicated host offerings, that looks like there was a bug when it went out to the pricing page and it just isn't even visible. They are working to fix that and it should light up soon.
