I would like to import a photoshop image with layers as separate outputs for 3D multi pass editing.

Please file this issue in openfx-io before closing it.
Any reference to an open source PSD reader is welcome

+1 Gimp, krita, blender can read psd. There is PSD specification somewhere in the internet.

If it's available somewhere on the internet, can you help locate it so that the developers can start merging it in to trunk.

OpenImageIO can read PSD afaik. This is a good start.

@blackearth2014 Have you tried with the Read node to read PSD multi layered files ? can we close this ?
