I can't reproduce it either. I tested on 11.4 and 10.15. @sgpearse are the steps to reproduce complete? What version of MacOSX are you using?

I can reproduce on macOS 11.5.1.

Note: the actual string typed in doesn't seem to matter. Any string causes a crash for me.

Fixed by using MacPorts' version of llvm, as described in this document.
