Keeping this issue open till I am certain this is not reproduceable

rewriting brackets entirely....

don't hardcode # of rounds, launch matches for round1 based on the number of teams (implement some field to limit the # of teams)
keep rounds and advancing when all the matches are marked as complete, each round will have 1/2 the matches of the previous.
you'll know you're almost done when the round you're created only has 1 match (the finals)
